Re: Off Topic 2012
It's like that at other places, too. I had a bunch of friends that went to a Penn State branch campus and said it was like taking glorified high school classes (one of them drank literally every day, showed up to class drunk and got a 2.5, and no I'm not making that up). It didn't prepare them at all for UPark.
I just wish I didn't need that stupid piece of paper to say this guy knows what he's doing. I guess I'm just in the entry level classes (English Composition is what I'm speaking on tonight), and haven't hit my majors classes yet. So it could get better. I tend to dwell on the negatives, I try not to but it's hard at times.
Someone start up an OS University...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Well that's good to know. I think part of community college is weathering the storm and just getting through the BS so you can get to a real university.
If only I had mad skillz, son.
Seriously though, going to school is my plan. I'm just using this forum as a vent for my frustration. I know education is the key to greater things for myself, especially in this day & age. The journey just sucks. My passions are music & sports, just like every one else, but my major is computer information systems because I figured it'd be viable. I just feel like I'm settling, or something.
Yeah, I do need a plan.
When I went to college, damn near everybody chose CIS, came junior year, 75% of them dropped out of school completely or changed majors. Their heart just wasn't into it.
And if your heart isn't into something, you not really going to want to learn it and you damn sure not want to do it as a job working 12 to 16 hour days sometimes.Comment

That would be fine with me if it actually turned on and recorded something, but nothing has been recorded since the beginning of February.

If your heart isn't in programming, which is what CIS major is, then change majors asap. Nothing worse then picking a major because you assume it will make a lot of money when you get out of college. Might as well major in something that you know you won't mind doing as a job for the next 30 years or so.

I hear ya, GMSS. I've seen my fiance' change her major 3 times, and it's set her back 5 years (other things factored in too for it taking her that long). I don't want to do that. But I want to give it (pun intended) the ol' college try.
I just don't know what I want to do if I don't do CIS. I love music to death, but I don't have musical talent as far as playing instrument and not sure what other majors would apply to like, becoming a band manager or someone who finds the up-and-coming talent. I don't even know where to begin to get into a sports-related career... I guess as a business major? Just like everyone else? Then there's the fact I'm living in a tiny state with only a few decent colleges, the majority of which are off limits to me, anyway.
Ugh, the whole thing is making my head spin. I don't want to run in circles. I want to pick something and roll with it.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

They will always need sound board people, camera operators, etc. Who knows, you might can be the beat maker. They get paid a good amount of money for those beats......Comment
