Almost 500.. what the ****, man..

We were a 5a going on 6a school with what we had. I couldn't imagine almost 500 people.

My old high school's class had a little over 540.

My current only has about 300.

My wife and I just pulled up to my Mom's place for Mother's Day. Here's our how our initial exchange went:

Me: Hey Mama!
Mom: Hey son!
*hugs and kisses* *gives gift*
Mom: I have something for you too!
Me: Oh yeah?! What's that?
Mom: *points to three bags of trash that need to be taken out*

My HS had a class of 306 graduates. I knew everyone's name but, of course, didn't really like most of them.

My college graduating class was up in the thousands. Obviously I only knew a small portion of them.

My HS class had 600-800 somewhere in that range, closer to 800 probably more.

I actually thought I knew a lot of people until the end of senior year, most of us had no idea who like 100-200 of these people were lol

My HS graduating class had about 95-100 people. My college graduating class had around 600 I think.

My HS graduation class had 750 something people. I knew only a fraction of them and it's safe to say I haven't talked to anyone from my HS in 15 years.

Did you guys have only one school in the county or something ?

We did have several schools, though.. so I'm not sure.

To put it in perspective, Hoover High school is only a 6A school and everyone knows how big they are and we were on the verge of breaking the 6A mark, while I was there..... I couldn't imagine having 600 people or more in a graduating class.

Regional populations and population density probably have a lot to do with it. Though I don't know what the population density in Alabama is, mkoz (Chicago), Chrisksaint (S. Florida and bighoff (who I think I remember mentioning grew up in or near Fresno, CA) are/were all in areas with large populations and high population densities. Though my district was small (~95 in my graduating class), one of the neighboring districts has graduating classes approaching 1000.

There was another school(Dwyer, HS football powerhouse) about 3-4 miles down the road that had probably the same amount of kids, but zoned differently as that included parts of Jupiter that we didn't cover and parts of Palm Beach Gardens

I only had about 60 in my class, but it was the smallest public HS in the city, and was ran out of an abandoned church before they moved to a building made for a HS the year after I left. The classes increased some but was still nowhere near the largest in the city.
