Maybe its the area, but most people barely make eye contact anymore much less smile at you. I still do it, but its concerning that I rarely get a response.

Eye contact, or I should say direct human to human interaction in general is dying. Rarely come across any random people in public anymore that will look you in the face and say "How are you doing?" or "Have a good day"
