Re: Off Topic 2012
So, I've decided this weekend I'm tired of hanging out with myself. The introvert thread has made my personality abundantly clear to me that I'm a true introvert and loner, but living alone kind of sucks after awhile especially with such a small group of friends (most of whom do not live in my town). What things do you guys do to go out and be social?
I'm not much on alcohol so the bar/club scene is of no use to me. I'd love to find a class, workshop, or league to join, but that's proving difficult in the dead of Winter.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Yeah, that's a decent idea. Also see if their are any adult league softball teams or something you can sign up for?
Even if you aren't too high on alcohol, going to a sit down type sports bar or something and having a beer or two throughout the night (or a soda) for sporting events isn't too bad.

Re: Off Topic 2012
We're members at a small neighborhood gym in our area and we don't utilize nearly as much as we should. I mean I'm in there 4 days a week. But I work out shower, get out. But they have beer on tap (Cheap at that), Flat screen TV's. Nice lounge chairs. Great kids care. Just really great place to hang out.Last edited by Chef Matt; 12-09-2012, 04:42 PM.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I do. And only one. I was looking at classes it offers and nothing really grabbed my attention. I'm almost half-way done with my round of Insanity so I probably shouldn't take on something crazy yet. I was thinking maybe like a kickboxing class or something like that.

I've thought about doing the sports night out for an NBA game, but there are no sports bar in this god forsaken "city." The closest Buffalo Wild Wings is 30 minutes away and even sober that's a decent drive.

Re: Off Topic 2012
Anybody else notice how much of a hive mind society we live in ? Too many people go with the flow instead of against it. This is something I noticed over the years. Get enough people not liking something and people instantly don't like something and start to see things that really isn't there. Kind of amazing and weird at the same time.
I see it everywhere, from music to tv shows to clothing styles, video games, dating, etc. It is as though people never lose that, "I want to fit in" way of thinking.Comment

All the adult sports leagues have you put your own team together. I don't know of anybody who plays any sport much enough people to put together my own team. My goal is to do co-ed kickball next summer/fall, but I would love to get into the men's basketball league by the 21st.

Yeah, you have people that always go with the flow to fit in, then you have people who always go against the flow just to NOT fit in. Why not just do what you like, where what you like, and listen to what you like?

Do what you want, dont worry about what others do. Thats it.Comment
