Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?
Some people kill me with their stereotypes of things men shouldn't do. Alot of people feel that if a guy knows how or likes to cook that it makes him less of a man since women have always been known to be the one in the household responsible for cooking since ancient times (well if you are a single man you don't have that luxury . LOL) . That's so ridiculous... alot of boxed/pre-packaged meals are so bad for you. I don't see how someone wouldn't get tired of eating them and eating fast food all the time. who on here knows how to cook and (gasp!!) actually enjoys cooking?

Calling Chef Matt
Seriously, no way. That's one of the dumbest stereotypes I've ever heard. Absolutely nothing wrong with a guy knowing how to or liking to cook. If someone is saying liking to cook makes a guy less manly then I guess to them grilling is not a manly thing to do?Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Not at all. I really want to learn how to cook a large variety of meals and become a great cook. If I saw it as less manly, I probably wouldn't want to do all that.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I don't see how it makes you any less of a 'man.'
Cooking is a great skill to have and from my experience, it's a great way to impress the ladies.Girls like guys who can cook.

Not at all.
If you live byself for a certain period of time, you would want to know how to cook. You wouldnt want to have to rely on eating fastfood or microwaving/ovening things all the time.
I can cook certain things. But if I had to, I could cook a meal for myself because Ive seen my family cook alot. I know how to season and start food. My thing would be not overcooking it.Last edited by illwill10; 03-10-2012, 01:38 PM.Comment

I don't think this stereotype even exists.Comment

I dont even like eating Fastfood that much. If I have the choice of either buying fastfood or going to a grocery store to get something, I would choose going to a grocery store. Mainly because the amount of money spent at a fastfood place, I could spend at a grocery store that will last longer.Comment

Re: Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?
Definitely not. I think it is more manly if you know how to cook. You'll get farther in life and will be more happy. I was blessed with two parents that knew how to cook. In fact, my dad is a better cook. He can make things without using directions on a box.
As stated earlier, this stereotype is long dead, at least in the US. I would also assume it's gone in Western Europe too. India? Mexico? African nations? Canada? (haha)
Then you have that thing where most restaurant cookers are men.Last edited by sydrogerdavid; 03-10-2012, 02:27 PM.Comment

Ahem,
If I may......
I could go on and on but I'll keep it simple. Women so dig guys that can cook.
Not only is not just manly, it also shows an artistic nature in a man. Already you have two traits women go crazy for.
Let me tell you, I had some my fun in my 20's. There was never a time when I didn't have...well, yeah.
Also, another thing to remember I'm a former US Marine. I never once felt I was being unmanly by learning to cook, in fact I knew it just added to my arsenal.
Plus, I get to use this,
But, Chef or just home-cook, you're more of man knowing how to cook because it shows you can be self sufficeint. And being self sufficeint is a mans true trait.
Carry on.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. No, most of the best chefs in the world are men... Hell, watch Chopped for an example... ( Not saying they are the best chefs in the world... but they are pretty darn good, and 90% of the winners are men )
Percentages heheComment
