Re: Have you played pro sports
My nephew went from a small private HS crew to team to getting recruited by Rutgers...
He was on the team for the four years he attended there, and traveled extensively with the them, went to many offseason camps and was invited to try out for the national team a couple times...
Eventually, he herniated a disc in his back, had to quit competing but will now be coaching as a career...
Kid turned something he enjoyed into quite an experience AND a good job...
Crew turned out to be a great move for him...
Good luck and:

A 30 ACT score is pretty impressive man, that coupled with you being a D1 level rower is really going to get you somewhere.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: Have you played pro sports
The good thing about rowing is that a lot of the best schools do it, and that it would make a place like wisconsin (where I would maybe be able to get in w/o rowing), a safety school with rowing.
For you guys that want to know which schools I've had "serious" discussions with

Math is my best subject (I'm taking AP Calculus AB next year).
But I don't know yet.
Edit: but it will also depend on what school I end up going to. Like at Notre Dame I would do business because the Mendozza school is great, but somewhere else I may do something else.Last edited by Weeks; 04-08-2012, 01:33 PM.Chicago Bulls

Re: Have you played pro sports
Thanks. Being a rower is letting me get consideration from the "worse" ivy league schools (I know they are all great, but I mean the ones that are generally considered not as great) like Brown and Cornell. When if I wasn't a rower, there would be no chance I get in. I have even been talking a good amount with the Harvard rowing coach, but I still don't think he would have the power to get me in.

Once again thanks.
Those are the schools that I've been talking with a lot. So I'll likely get denied from some (like Harvard, and MIT). But hopefully I can get into brown or cornell.
I can't get a scholarship for rowing because of the prop-9 thing, but schools can accept me in when I normally wouldn't get in.Chicago Bulls

Not quite sure yet. Definitely something math related, or maybe business.
