I don't know about you guys, but if I moved to another city and went to the local sports teams football game, I'd wear an Eagles jersey over something that isn't football related, unless I have something like a throwback jersey from that teamEagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

I wear them. I wear them on casual Fridays sometimes. I work in IT so they're no rules cause everyone's kind of they're own boss. Unless of course there's a meeting with some important people then no jersey.
I wore my Chelsea jersey just last week and here's a reply I got. Man you must really like Samsung (ad on jersey). I'm like ugh...

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
Browns:
Tim Couch - Brown
Kellen Winslow - Brown
Brady Quinn - White
Cardinals:
Scott Rolen - Home
Albert Pujols - Home
In all seriousness though you are correct, and my track record for buying jerseys is pretty bad, at least got about 7 years out of the Pujols before he left in FA.
Only jersey I own at the moment that the player is actually still on the team is my Dave Bolland Blackhawks jersey, thats the only one I've purcahsed within the last 4 years though also.
I'm tempted to buy a Trent Richardson but after looking at my 3 previous Browns jersey purchases I might be better off not doing so!Favorite Teams:

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I used to wear jerseys everywhere fast forward a little over 10 years and I'll only wear my jerseys to games or when I go out to watch the game somewhere. I have a Jay Bruce shiresy and wear that all the time, I'm not a Reds fan at all just liked Bruce when he played in Louisville so i figured I'd buy the shiresy. I can see myself buying some football shiresys this year. I will wear my soccer jerseys anytime though, it's kinda weird.
Not a fan of either team (don't dislike either team though) so don't want to buy a regular jersey but I definitely want to get those if I can find them. It's weird because some teams (like the Browns for example) already have their rookies shirsey's posted online, so I'm hoping Mercilus and Jenkins will be put up for sale as well.

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
Recently, I was thinking about buying some Player Tees. I had a Nick Markakis and Derek Jeter one, and some old jerseys. I like the look of them and the players game. But I got to thinking... I'm 22 now, isn't it kinda weird for me to wear grown mens names on my back now? I was thinking of getting like a John Wall tee, but in reality, he's technically younger then me.
I'm not coming down on anyone that still does this, but it was different when these guys were my idols when I was growing up, now I'm a man, and it seems a bit childish to me now. It's one thing to admire their game, but donning their name on your back, I don't know, it seemed strange.

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
Yeaaaaaa, that wasn't my intent.
Perhaps, I'm the one that's lame (waits for everyone and their mom to like this post now)
I shouldn't of said lame though. I'm not passing judgement on anybody, I was just curious to see if it would be deemed childish.
I understood that people still do this. I just feel like I personally am past my "Hero worship days"
I'm just not cool with wearing other grown men's names on my back anymore. But, I can see I'm not the norm.Comment

And like you were saying, When I was a kid, I always took up for the players, they were my idols, I defended Barry Bonds on everything he was accused of. Now it's just.. Well, There grown men and they make mistakes like me, so now I just admire their talents. It's just like that now for me.Comment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I used to be an avid jersey buyer until I hit a cold streak of buying a Lavaar Arrington, Tiki Barber, Brandon Jacobs, and Tiki Barber jersey and they retired or left the Giants the next year. The next jersey I buy will have my name on the back!Comment

I don't really see myself buying any other named jerseys though. NFL, NBA, or MLB jerseys don't really appeal to me, and I have a nameless Michigan jersey for those games.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
People can do whatever they want but I do laugh a little on the inside when I see a grown man wearing another grown man's jersey. They're cool as hell to look at (dumb, I know) but IMO they just look weird on an adult.
I owned a ton of screen printed NBA jerseys in the late 80's/early 90's. I think the only authentic jersey I've ever owned was Paul O'Neil home that I sold on eBay about a 5 years ago.

I don't do it as much for the "grown man's name" aspect, but more just because style wise I never really have a situation to wear a jersey (especially NBA).
Honestly, 99% of people wearing a NBA jersey in public look kinda trashy/foolish IMO. I don't wanna see some random guy's armpits in a Rockets jersey lol. It's a tough look to pull off if you're not a kid.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
