    Worst in the World

Something I thought that'd be interesting, but would only really work on a site with sports fans from many diff cities, would be finding out which CITY do people think is the worst sports city in the world(in this case, world=north america, sports=major 4 sports).

Posted in this section cause couldn't really find any other section that'd have fans from diff sports reading.

To qualify to be on the poll, a city must have at least 3 teams in the 4 main sports leagues(A city doesn't have to be in the team name. Example, Texas Rangers would technically count as Dallas since they play in same city as the Dallas Cowboys)

Vote on the poll just based on overall qualify of that cities sports teams, not so much on if you like them or not.

I have a feeling I know what the majority will vote, and it will make certain people with an avatar just like mine, feel real bad(but will all know that it's true already lol).

    List of teams:
    Atlanta(Braves,Falcons,Hawks)
    Boston(Red Sox,Celtics,Bruins,Pats)

    Re: Worst in the World

I had to go with my home state - MPLS/St. Paul. Timberwolves, Twins, Wild, and Vikings? They all had/have no hope in their most recent seasons. The Wild were a nice story for a couple months, but they went from best record in the NHL to not even having a chance to make the playoffs.

Went with Minnesota for all the same reasons ImTellinTim listed. Almost went with Cleveland, but the Indians have played well the past two seasons.

Atlanta was the city I wanted to vote in. The lack of loyal fan support drives me nuts. But that's not what his pole is about.

Ehh, this is really what I would use to quantify poor sports cities. I always judge the fans as to the quality of a sports city. Do they show up on time? Do they stay till the end? Do they know what is going on? Are they classy? Can a visiting fan enjoy a game at their venue(s)? Do they support the team(s) when they are losing? Do they show up during the play-offs? Do they have knowledge of more than just the marquee players?

Stuff like that is what I would use as criteria rather than how well the team performs as a barometer for being a good or bad sports city.

                Re: Worst in the World

BTW, I interpreted this as of right now.

I'm sure the Cleveland sob stories will be flooding in from the historical perspective, with good reason.

                But as of right now:

                - The Twins are bogged down by a couple big contracts for guys who aren't producing up to that kind of cash. Their payroll budget is slim, and although some of their young players are playing well of late, they just don't have the pitching to do anything of significance. I expect this to continue for the near future.

                - The Wild - despite fervent fan support - cannot put together a competitive team. Even though the atmosphere at the games is top-notch, they cannot attract top free agents. For them to compete, they practically need two top lines of prospects to pan out. A big ask.

                - The Vikings managed to get their stadium, but they have so many holes to fill, it's not even funny. And their best player by a longshot just shredded his knee.

                - The Timberwolves are a lot like the Vikes. Even though they have one of the best players in the league in Kevin Love, their "future" just blew out his knee as well.

There really isn't a whole lot to look forward to in the Twin Cities for the next few years.

Which is why "Los Angeles" has one vote.

Well, you can make a poll that asks that then. Your criteria has been asked and analyzed many times. The OP wanted to know what everyone's opinions were regarding the quality of the actual teams right now. I think it's an interesting question.

I could, but basically this is all about winning %. Which is basically a fact based poll, not one of real opinion or objectivity. If it is about quality of teams why would Boston, New York be listed? They obviously are not bad sports cities based on on field success. But I get your point and will leave the conversation.

Why so many votes for Cleveland? Is it because the Browns and Cavs are so bad?
