    Re: Worst in the World

Since when did Carolina become a city? ]

Charlotte has the Panthers and the Bobcats, but the Carolina Hurricanes are in Raleigh, which is a three-hour drive away.

The Panthers had a good run for awhile and were in the Super Bowl in 2004. The Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup in 2006, as well. The Bobcats have never made the NBA Playoffs.

Yep. No "paper" championships in 50 years and no real championships in 65 years.

I am aware of all this. Doesn't make us a bad sports town.

Attendance at Indians games is always very low in the early part of the season. Not saying its excusable, but there are many reasons for it.

And I wouldn't say its a wide gap. Its narrowing. It was by over 5,000 now its under 3,000.

Heh, good point. I suppose if I read the post initially I would have held off on immediately voting "LA", lmao.

              That's rough.
Don't forget the whole kerfluffle with the soccer team. MLSE had a huge built in audience for that franchise and they screwed it up royally. I think they're on their 5th or 6 coach and 2nd management regime in 6 years! The other Canadian clubs in MLS are light years ahead of TFC already.

              It's a crying shame.

Carolina/charlotte shouldn't even be an option. The Canes are in Raleigh, leaving them only the Panthers and Bobcats.

I voted for Toronto. TFC are garbage, the Leafs have missed the playoffs for 7 straight seasons. The Raptors haven't been to the post-season since 2008 and the Blue Jays are just a .500 ball club.

                    Aren't they the "Carolina Hurricanes"?

Wouldn't that mean they're counted for Carolina?

Like I said in the OP. Some teams might not be in a certain area/city by name, but grouped them together since they're basically right in same place(like how the Rangers are part of Dallas since they play in same city as Dallas Cowboys, and the teams in the Carolinas grouped together since they're fairly close, and San Fransisco is counted just as the bay area in general with oakland included with san fransisco)

Carolina and Miami and then everyone else.

At least Cleveland has the fan support regardless of what they're doing at the moment.

By that logic, you'd have to include the Texas Rangers in the Houston group; the Golden State Warriors in LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland; the Florida Panthers in Tampa.

The Rangers are located directly in the DFW Market. They're essentially a Dallas team. If Dallas got a baseball team, people in the area would still be Rangers fans. If Charlotte got a hockey team, few would still be Canes fans. According to the Canes website, theyre not even on the radio in Charlotte, and many cable/sat providers in Charlotte dont even carry the games in HD. The Charlotte Observer newspaper doesn't even have a specific section for the Hurricanes, but they do have one for the Panthers and one for the Bobcats.

And as he said in that post you quoted, the poll option is "Carolina" not Charlotte. The Carolina Hurricanes play in Carolina.

If an option was "Texas" then I'd see your point, but the two main areas in Texas, Dallas as Houston, have sufficient teams to be their own categories and therefore the teams are separate.

He also specified "CITY," so take that for what you will.
