Re: Insomnia: The official sleepless zombie thread

I have my problems getting to sleep to. I usually get 4 hours during the middle of the week. I will be physically exhausted but my mind is not tired and I am just racing through my head with ideas. And when that happens I start to get really mad then I can't fall asleep because I am mad lol. Every once in awhile I will have a couple of shots of whiskey which that helps calm me down and eventually I can fall asleep.

I used to have those sleepless nights all the time but those days are gone now that I quit drinking soda and been working out regularly but has helped the most is practicing meditation.

May sound corny to most guys but once you get good at it you're in control and you can calm your own mind. I honestly think its worth a try instead of taking dangerous and addictive drugs all the time and you'll feel like a million bucks when you wake up and start your day.

Also what can keep you up is tense muscles so doing stretches before going to be bed can help too.

I have just discovered Ambien take a couple of those about an hour before bed and you drift off to sleep pretty well. Very helpful prescription by my dr. One slight side effect for the firs few nights til I adjusted was either sleep walking, and or hallucinations.

My sleep schedule is completely backwards. I usually don't sleep until around 5am and I sleep until 1pm or so. The biggest issue is that I can't stay asleep. I swear I wake up every 20-30 min. I constantly toss and turn.

Does anyone else experience this or something similar?

I used to do the same thing (not every 20-30 minutes), but I would wake up all the time and eventually just give up and wake up.

Me and my girlfriend recently bought a new bed and I find myself sleeping much much longer and soundly than before.

Of all people, my landlord recommended melatonin. First day I took it, I got the best 8 hours of sleep i'd ever had from 9am to 5pm. Ever since then, I don't go a day without it. Within 30 minutes of taking it, i'm ready for bed. Not a crazy 'holy crap, I need to lay down or i'll fall asleep standing feeling', but just a tired, 'it's time for bed' feeling.

Not to mention (although I don't recommend it), I usually have some whiskey in the morning before the melatonin. The combination of the two leads to some CRAZY vivid dreams.
I got the 10mg ones. Haven't used them yet though.

Just to chime in here, I can't remember how to go to sleep and it's pissing me off. I'm similar to your sleep schedule right now PVarck31, except I haven't slept in a day plus.

You guys can solve all your problems. Just record this Cowboys/Raiders game and watch it before bed, it will get you to sleep in no time.

lol I keep hearing about how horrible this game was.

I need to start exercising more. It really does help with sleep issues. I have some other underlying issues as well that don't help, but I need to motivate myself to get off my *** every once in a while.
