That's good info. I'm looking at Smith & Wesson because my department uses those. I am much more comfortable and familiar with Smith & Wesson but we will see if the price is right on another product.

Smith & Wesson makes some nice rifles. My only suggestion would be to search out S&W's that have a barrel with a 1\7 twist rate instead of 1\9. They recently started making barrels with that twist rate like the M&P 15TS. Plus a lot more of S&W's are coming already with Magpul furniture. If you don't know, the 1/7 twist rate is mil spec and allows you to stabilize much heavier bullets than what 1/9 can accomplish. Not a big deal but for the same price its nice to be able to fire 75g or 77g 5.56 for home defense purposes.

If you end up finding just a lower you may want check out Bravo Company and Spikes Tactical. Both sell very nice uppers with lots of different rail options.

          Very nice man.

Unfortunately, I'm waiting to get my XDs back from Springfield. It was part of a recall last month, and despite Springfield saying it would take a month to get back, they still don't have a fix for it. Getting rather fed up.

That's a bummer. What year is your XD? My dad has one, think he bought his in 2011/12.

Well its time for me to get my service weapon. Seems like everyone in the agency has either a 1911/1991 or a Glock 22. All of the shops around me have fairly poor reviews on every level so it looks like I need to check out Denver

If your dad has the Xds 45 or 9mm, there's a good chance it's part of the recall. May want to have him look into it. It's based on the serial number.

He has the full size XD 45, but I'll let him know just in case. Thanks for the info.

Full size XD is fine. This is specifically for the new model XDs, the new slim subcompact line they introduced this past year. It's a totally redesigned model.

Kind of wishing I had gone with the standard XD Subcompact .40, but it's a little late for that now. Just hoping I get it back soon.

What agency? Don't government agencies just give you a gun? Or do police officers and whatnot just buy their own guns because it's a personal choice?

Just wondering, always thought they should let a cop choose the type of gun he/she wanted.

Some departments around here will provide everything but the one I'm going to (county sheriff) just gives you a list of what's approved. But they obviously have a tie with certain stores/companies to get the best price possible for us from firearms to accessories.

I dont mind it since like you said, its a personal choice besides the list provided and they help out with the whole process. I like having the choice instead of having something issued that I may not like the feeling of

Quick question. Out of curiosity with the leo approval list, if you wanted to use a 1911 are you limited at all by manufacturers (such as Colt, Kimber, Nighthawk etc.) or just the make as any 1911?

They just gave us S&W .40 and it's been decent. I need to get a few additional for home safety.

I went ahead and ordered my first bow, which I hope to knock down a deer with this year. October 26th, I'm going scout a new area which looks to be prime area. Going to use the kayak to get into a area that has never seen a human foot print!
