    Do you watch the news?

I can't watch the news. It depresses the hell outta me. Seems like everyday I hear about some mother who inhumanly killed their child, political scandal, shootings, missing children, and celebrities. News network compete for ratings it seems using shock value. It depicts Americans as not valuing life itself.

When it comes to news, ignorance is bliss to me.

So do you watch the news? And keep political talk out of it.

I'm right there with you. The only news I watch is the 5 min I catch in the morning when my wife has it on. Nothing but depressing stories and angry people.

My news is ESPN Radio and Operation Sports

          No, sir.

I get my news from Twitter, weirdly.

Nope don't watch the news. I used to try and catch the weather but I get that from the internet now. Can't take the constant negativity. There are good things going on in the world but all they report on is the bad.

I watch the local news mainly for weather and traffic.

If you count SportsCenter as news...

I used to watch the local news every night. Now I just read the news on Yahoo. This way I can read what I want and ignore the rest.

I don't, I get all my news from online. It's not because it depresses me, I'd just rather not watch.

I like CSPAN political news...very straight-forward and non-partisan. Also, watching the BBC news or PBS news is good too. Less about shock value, more about investigative reporting.

The mainstream news is ratings driven and that's a very wrong way to report news. The lack of research is astounding and they take a very ADD apporoach to it. I feel like as someone in the military I should be knowledgable in current events but I can't bring myself to watch it except when I glance at it at work.

Rarely watch it, but I try to read up on the national and international news, as well as the local paper online at least once a day.

Samies - except I don't really pay attention online either. I may catch an article on here or on Yahoo when I'm checking my email or something, but that's about it.

I might watch local news in the morning if my mom has it on. If there is anything I want to know going on in the world socially or politically, I'll research it myself. And not just on wikipedia, even though it is a convenient source.

Bits and pieces and its usually because its on at work or someone at my house is watching.

For similar reasons mentioned in the OP, I don't like watching it.

I also hate most of the local sports guys on abc and fox. The guys from the less popular cbs and wtto/cw know their sports better and all share a radio show in birmingham, which is awesome.
