Re: Do you watch the news?
I keep up with the news, but I find myself actually watching it less and less, especially in an election year. It's worse now since about 90% of the commercials during the news are campaign ads.Comment

I get most of my news online but when I do watch it it's Fox News. I like their morning show, Fox and Friends.
Do you really care where I sent this from?MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town

Re: Do you watch the news?
I get my news from Dookie."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Do you watch the news?
I despise this 24/7 news cycle that has evolved over the past 15 years or so. It sensationalizes EVERYTHING only to be forgotten the next news cycle. Crazies are put on the air and allowed to spit the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. There's FAR too much interjection of opinion and less and less actual facts. Not to mention how much fear mongering, division creating, and finger pointing that goes on a daily basis.
Human interests stories bore me to tears. Not every issue or topic needs to have a face. I would like to find a more moderate news source that is built upon facts and research, but mainstream news is not the place to find it.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Do you watch the news?
I don't think they do it intentionally, but they really do make you feel like you have you choose a side (R or D). I would like to live in a world where people attack things within context and not based off a two second sound bite.

That's the worst part about the cable networks though CNN is probably a lot more staid with their presentation, even their opinion shows aren't as brash as MSNBC and FOX.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I'm with JBH3. Network/cable news in America is mostly a joke. And I'm talking about it all, CNN, Fox News, NBC, etc. It's all garbage. It's less about truly analyzing what's going on and more about forcing everyone to pick a side and yell. Discourse has been ruined in this country by the screaming fringe minority on both sides.
CSPAN is great! I listen in the morning on the way to work, and on the way home. NPR is good too.
The BBC is great. Not only do I like the news/format, but I love just listening to them talk too.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Another depressing day in the news... Hope all that were affected find peace in their own way.

Re: Do you watch the news?
I hate the news with a passion, Why do I want to watch the world burn every day? I realize keeping up with current events is important, but for me ignorance is bliss. I really wish I had never heard a word about some of the mass shootings, or terrorist attacks.
I was working out in the weight room in my complex, when I glanced at the tv, and saw the news on the Aurora shooting, and I about threw up, it literally ruined my workout session.
I hate the news.Comment
