So I went to Gamestop earlier today, looking to get some decent cash (15-20) dollars on NCAA 2012 (2013 had only come out a couple of weeks ago right?) and they told me they'd give me.... 4.50 for it. Not lying, the guy told that to me straight to my face. I also tried to sell Live 09 and got 40 cents. It seems to be a common thing, what Gamestop rip-offs have you guys gotten?

Gamestop Rip-offery
I know this sorta has to do with sports gaming, but really, I think this has to do with all games.

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
Sports games don't have resale value, especially old ones. There is absolutely no way anyone would make a profit giving you $20 for last year's NCAA, especially considering Best Buy was selling it NEW for $9.99 a few weeks ago.Fan of....

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
Normally I can see where these stores are coming from with their trade-in values, so I never really feel ripped off.
Although Best Buy did offer me only 9 bucks for KoA: Reckoning a couple weeks ago (and that's after the 50% trade-in bonus), which I found odd. I ended up keeping that one.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
You're wasting your time, by trying to trade anything in to gamestop.
The only time it's even halfway worth it, is when they're doing the Extra 50% towards purchases/pre order of specific games.
Otherwise, I don't sell games. I did sell Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier on Amazon and got a decent amount for them. If your'e going to sell to anyone, I would suggest Amazon.
Something else that's popular is Facebook. Someone got the idea to start a "yard sale" Facebook page for the area and people are always buying and selling on there. I sold a nice sound system for a vehicle and got more than what I originally paid for it.Comment

I don't even trade games in anymore because I'd rather just keep the game. I found more success selling the games myself online.

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
Like others said, that isn't a rip off, you trading in old sports games. After a month, a sports game loses 70% of it's value.
If you tried to trade in NCAA 13 today, you will probably only get $22 for it and that is on the high side.Comment

Best Buy's giving 40 bucks for NCAA 13.
Just, you know, for the record. Since you brought it up.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
Yeah and it's really not as if they are forcing to you trade it in.
You have the option to walk away, which is probably your best bet.
The trade in value for Socom: Confrontation is right at $1.00. I know that sounds ridiculous, but you have to think about how hard it is for them to unload some of these games on to someone else. No one is going in to buy that game. It sounds like a bad deal to us, because we see more value in the game, but they are looking at it from a totally different point of view.
It's best just to hold on to your games or sale them to an individual.
I think the only way you would get anywhere near that $40 with Gamestop, is if you are trading towards Madden. I have bought a game before and turned around and traded it in, when they are doing an extra 50% deal. That's what I did with Killzone 3. I bought it for $60 + tax and turned around and traded it in for $52, a week after beating it.Last edited by AUChase; 08-16-2012, 01:43 AM.Comment

Re: Gamestop Rip-offery
If you're looking to trade in games, I would wait until Best Buy does their next 100% Bonus Credit and take them there. When I was going through all my old sports games a couple months ago, the prices they were going to give me was very similar to what the games were selling for on Ebay so it saved me alot of trouble. Hell they even gave me almost $10 for Madden 11 and $12 each for Tiger Woods 11 and SVR 11. Some of their values are a bit weird.
BTW, their next 100% Bonus Credit starts Sunday
If there values don't change between now and Sunday, NCAA 12 will net you $8(I know it's not $40, but that's downright unrealistic). NCAA 13 would be worth $54 which alot of people would have actually profited on that game if that value sticks so I have a feeling it'll drop in the next few days. If it doesn't I'll be irritated I didn't just buy NCAA 13 on release day and trade it in right before Madden.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II
