Hopefully it's not as bad as Katrina. I don't know if it will be. Katrina landed as a Cat 3, right? Who knows if this makes it to Cat 4 or Cat 5 even over the Gulf.

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac
Katrina actually got the clean side of the hurricane, ie the left side. most model put this hurricane to the left of NOLA, thus giving it the dirty side and piling all the gulf waters inward. Even if this thing is a 2, it will feel worse. Everyone down there needs to stay safe and get out if possible.Last edited by joshuar9476; 08-26-2012, 08:14 PM.Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else.

Still, I hope New Orleans and Louisiana is a lot more prepared and that people are taking the voluntary evacuation notices more seriously this time around.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Do the warmer waters factor into this at all? With the mild winter we had, the ocean temps on the east coast were warm all summer. Not to mention it was a hot *** balls summer anyway. I'm assuming it was similar in the Gulf.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac
The biggest problem with the Katrina disaster was the over complications of how the army corp of engineers handled everything and the lack of communication and clear cut levels of authority.
Several improvements have been made, from what I've read. We shouldn't ever see that city underwater ever again, but the way this one is going, it's going to cause some havoc. But total failure? I'd say it's about 0% chance.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this and I'm probably just being naive and stupid about hurricanes. I live in SW FL and I'm actually a little disappointed now that it looks like Isaac isn't even going to brush us(aside from some moderate wind and rain which we get all the time anyways). I moved down here from Indy 3 years ago and have since been almost wanting a hurricane to hit. I know it sounds terrible. I do hate the destruction they cause but I've always been fascinated by powerful storms, especially hurricanes. Obviously I don't want anything bad to happen, I'm just eager to see just what a hurricane is like. I still remember seeing my first tornado in Indiana and it was one of the scariest, but also coolest things I had ever seen.
Still I wish the people of whatever state/city/community Isaac makes landfall into the very best and be safe. If it's headed for NOLA everyone there just needs to ****ing leave. Crazy to think that it might hit there on the 7 year anniversary of Katrina.Indianapolis Colts

Yeah. I just don't want someone on here who may have had a friend or family member die due to a hurricane be offended by what I said. I do care about the people and hate seeing lives lost due to natural disasters.Indianapolis Colts

So I understand your anticipation and letdown, but trust me, you're better off.

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac
I'm completely out of the loop on hurricanes now that I'm out of the South. Hopefully this thing doesn't strengthen too much.. I have a lot of family in Mobile and some in New OrleansComment
