Spitting

So I am curious as to what everyone's opinions are on this. I don't mean spitting because you are dipping or spitting out sunflower seeds or anything that has to do with food.

Just spitting in public.

This kinda got me interested after watching the little league world series and watching all these kids spit while in the dugout (not seeds mind you)

I don't really spit unless I'm out in the woods and there are a lot of bugs around. It just keeps me from thinking there are bugs and nats in my mouth.

I spit all the time. I think it's from playing baseball most of my life and being around it as a coach now. Just a habit.

Nope I don't unless I really have to. Baseball and spitting however is just a cultural thing. Kids see pros do it, so they are just imitating what they see.

Only in the bathroom or when I absolutely, positively have to. Even then, I'll find a napkin to spit on or just go somewhere the public can't see me.

Spitting just for the heck of it is gross.

Spit in public? No. The only time I spit is when I'm working out or playing sports and even then its rare.

I get mad loogies, so when I feel one I get it out. But there is a time and place. I'm not gonna spit in a formal environment but if I'm in a parking lot or something, sure.

All the time when I was playing baseball, but I really only now do it when I play golf or some other outdoor activity. It took years to break the habit though after I graduated college as anytime I found myself outside, I had the urge to spit.

Occasionally I still get the urge randomly, but try to fight it in front of my kids as they will pick up any bad habit.

Same here. My sinuses runs a lot so I get loogies quite often.

I do, but I try and make sure that there aren't any beautiful women around. Haha.

I spit if I need to, but I don't spit in high traffic areas where people move about frequently. I'll spit in a trash can, the bushes/shrubs, down a storm drain, etc.

I've lived all my life and never felt the need to spit at all. I really don't understand it and find it to be kind of nasty when performed in public (not during a sporting event).

Mind you, I've never played baseball competitively, though.

So my vote's pretty much null and void. First thing that comes to my mind when I hear spitting is tobacco, which I think is a horribly disgusting habit... Whoops. Guess I should read the thread before the poll next time.
