    Phobias

This thread is pretty old but I thought I would just post some of mine:

    1: spiders
2: swimming in open water( fear of sharks or any sea creatures)

And I recently found out about this phobia called trypophobia. I want you guys to search it up and see how you handle it. It's not an official phobia but it makes me scared to death and very disgusted when I see the pictures.

WARNING: You may find the images shocking and disgusting, search at your own risk. Just know the images are photoshopped.

First off sorry for not adding a warning to my post, I really should have but ya lots of people (including me) think the same thing but others just laugh and just state how it's obviously photoshopped. That's why I'm curious how you guys on OS will react to it.

I looked it up. The actual phobia isn't even something gross. It's just the fear of "objects with irregular patterns of holes".

And it isn't even a real phobia. It's not recognized by anyone, except the people that claim to have it.

Ya the whole thing is weird like I just find certain pictures really disgusting and I was kinda confused to see if others would react to it differently which is why I mentioned it in the first place. Just wanted to see your guys' reactions to it that's all.

Oh ya I was playing the witcher 3, and one of the 3 ladies had a honey comb like structure, instead of an eye. I wasn't scared or freaked, I was just curious. I saw everyone on forums talking about this freaking em out. So I googled it. The images with photoshopped holes on skin did make my arms get goosebumps, but instead of turning it off, I was still curious and kept on looking at the pictures. Idk what's wrong with me, it's like I have the opposite of that phobia, I can't stop looking at them

Ya it's a little similar for me as well. I am extremely disgusted by the images but at the same time curious. I saw this one ad where this person's knees had a bunch of holes in them and I was really freaked out but I wanted to see more of it for some reason. Something about it makes it really intriguing but really freaky at the same time.

Ok cool so I'm not the only one. I had to ban myself from looking at those pics. I was obsessed with it for a day or two. To the point where I was showing everyone. Trying to get their reaction.

People with "trypophobia" are so afraid of holes that a simple colander will freak them out. Even boiling water makes them uncomfortable. I think that is a little ridiculous. How could you even live with every hole making you freak out.

And based on everyone I showed, they all kind of had a "whoa", or "WTF" reaction to the holes on the skin pictures. I think that's just a normal human reaction to something un-normal. Almost like the uncanny valley. That is the same type of feeling I have with the holes on skin

Ya the holes don't bother me its the strangeness of some of the pictures. I keep looking at them and then eventually I get too grossed out but it's kinda fun lol I have no idea why. It gives me a strange feeling inside when I look at the pictures.

I'm cool with spiders. I've seen some here that are big as my hand and I don't get freaked out. I'm cautious of them but every time they are just there chillin. They take out mosquitos and flies so they are friends to me in my book.

I came across a lion fish on my last dive, I didn't freak out though but made sure to swim away from it. I was told they can kill in one strike.

As far as diving I'm cool between 20-30 meters but past that is scary as ****. You'll go into a dark drop off that you can't see ****. I've only experienced huge schools of fish which is amazing but if huge schools of fish are around that means predators are around too. Luckily it's only been turtles.

But diving has probably been the best thing I ever done so I'm gonna keep doing it when I can.

Claustrophobia is a huge problem of mine. Last week I went to Six Flags in Texas and had a panic attack because the shoulder harness which goes down over the head and locks you in to the seat on the Batman rollercoaster was too tight. They left us sitting after the ride was done for about ten minutes due to some problem. I couldn't breathe well due to tightness of harness and started flipping out. I was screaming and cussing at them to get me out of the damn thing...of course, the wonderful idiot employees could have cared less and continued to mope about dragging their feet while they messed with some dude about his items which couldn't go on the ride. When we finally got back to the loading platform I shot out of my seat like a bullet. If it wasn't for years of learning to control myself there would have been a serious *** kicking. I will never ride anything again which requires me to be fully trapped. I still wake up at night in a panic over the whole situation. It was horrible for me and I will never put myself in any kind of environment in which I have to rely on others to get me loose. My daughter was with me and felt terrible over what I went through, and I felt bad she had to see me flipping out.

My claustrophobia also came into play while I was getting an MRI. About ten minutes in I said it was over. I had to go to another place which has a more open scanner and I had to take some sort of pill to calm me down. I have a hard time getting to sleep some nights because the notion of sleep also makes me feel claustrophobic. It's a real pain in the butt.

When I was in the army we had to get into a village through an underground tunnel. I was in charge of the mission, so there was no getting out of it. I was thankful to get out of the tunnel and come up in the middle of the place. Fear of whatever was in the village was nothing next to the relief of getting out of that tunnel.
