We'll see alot more of this to come. But it looks like Hostess will be selling individual plants off... hopefully they get bought and put back to use for the employees sake.

It's very sad but I believe you're correct.

Man, I'm going to miss all those tasty treats, but there's plenty of other tasty treats out there so I can get over that. It's the jobs lost that really makes this news a tough pill to swallow. Especially, knowing that there's already plenty of others with no work. Everyone should be thankful for their jobs, even if it is a crappy one. Things can always be a lot worse than they already are, so make the best of what you've got.

Bad to see 18,000 people lose jobs like that. But maybe there is a silver lining in all this. Maybe this could cut into the problem that we’re probably one of the most (if not thee most) obese country in this world.

Unfortunately, the whole dynamic behind the situation can't be discussed here.

However, incredibly sad this many people have to be out of work. Definitely became even more grateful for the job I currently have.

Terrible news in a lot of ways. I feel sorry for those 18,000 workers the most though.

Stinks to see 18,000 people will now be without work.

I couldn't care less about Hostess's treats no longer being available. Haven't had one of those since I was a kid.

Too bad about the workers though.

Kind of hard to feel bad for the workers, given the situation, but hopefully somebody snatches up the assets quick.

I'm sure their executives and board members have continued to receive exorbitant salaries and bonuses over the last few years that they've been struggling though. They probably made sure there were some obnoxious parachutes were in place for when this day came as well.

Why? The company was and has been mismanaged, is that really the workers fault? How flexible should the workers be on terms that management agreed to?

In any event, a number of the brands hostess sells will live on. They're far too profitable not to.

Unfortunate indeed. Man if ppl only knew to "concessions" that had to be made. This is unfortunate and was not needed.

My thoughts indeed. I saw one of the workers say "I gotta call their bluff on this one." Good call.

This is a HUGE blow to me, my family, and church. My father-in-law has been employed by Hostess Brands for over 30 years. Worked his way up the ladder to regional manager. Now, nothing. Who will hire a 50 year old with bad knees and diabetic? The way this thing unfolded was absolutely ingnorant. He actually has to be the one to fly across the country, collect the keys, and shut the doors permanently. I wish I could vent more but I don't want a card/ban.

Some factories - Factories are very keen on experience, at least up here they are anyway.

So yeah he can get hired......my brother in law got hired over the summer at the age of 45 at this department of defense factory with a bad back simply because had 15 years of factory experience working in that type of environment of using CAD machines and other heavy machinery.

Good luck to your father in law. Regional manager experience can transfer over to a lot of other fields.
