    Re: Off Topic 2013

Got my vacation planned finally. Taking off the 30th of this month and won't come back for 12 days and I'm only using 7 days of PTO.

Its either burn it or lose it. Birthday is Oct 2, leaving for Daytona the next night, won't be back until the following week. Wooooo!

It was all ready done, just finally got approved for it.

Must be nice to be able to take leave whenever you want. We used to have to give 6-8 weeks notice and even then it would be denied most of the time.

When everyone left for deployment last time (save for those of us EASing soon) they got a week and they were told they'd make it up to them on the backend. They only got 10 days post-deployment leave when they got back.

Sucks for them. I think I took leave... 4 times in 4 years. Once for a 2 week Vegas trip that coincided with my ex's spring break, once for Christmas, and then 2 forced times (once after bootcamp and once when PCSing.) Then twice for convo leave, but as you may know that doesn't count against us.
Yeah when we are in port they are more lenient. We work Monday thru Friday 7-130 and only have duty about once every 10-11 days. They very rarely deny leave. Since we only have 4 people in our shop and only one needs to be there then the Command is happy.

My parents are coming up for the UNI-McNeese St. game next weekend, and so I just went to go get tickets. Students get in free if they sit in the student section, but I found out that if I want to reserve a seat to sit with them (which I did) I had to pay $22 (the normal adult price for a seat... anywhere in the stadium). This wouldn't be a problem, until you consider the fact that I normally get there as early as possible and as a result normally end up sitting in the first row around the 50. My tickets for next weekend? West Endzone (across from, not behind), four rows up. SMH.
