I only play 12 minute quarters. I want my depth to actually matter and I don't think it would with shorter quarters. To me it would be like playing a 6-7 inning baseball game. I just can't do it.
I play the full 82 games, but I sim most of them. I'll play the first 10 games of the season in full (to get some nice base stats), then I'll play each team in the league once. I also play interesting games here in there as I see fit. I normally play around 40 games a season and most all of the playoff games, as well. I've only made it to Season 3 once playing like this.
On a similar note, the #1 item on my wishlist is the ability to intervene in games like past NBA Live games and The Show. I love that feature.
I wouldn't trade it for having a bad team in real life, but having your favorite team be bad in a video game is way more fun. Do you know how long it has been since I could use Alabama in NCAA? Probably 6-7 years. I used the Celtics last year because teams in the East like Miami and Chicago were much better than them. It's going to be crazy this year though.
I'm afraid that my Celtics team (especially with Rondo) would end up around the 8th seed. Which is basically NBA purgatory.
Also, I'm really hoping that NG 2K has Custom Draft Classes. Give me those, the ability to intervene in games, MyGM and solid game play and I may not need another next gen game.
