Perfect timing coming back to the Philippines when a category 5 super typhoon is gonna rip through here. Luckily I'll probably just go through flooding but one of my best friends is on a small island where the eye will be and just super worried for her.

She tried but they stopped all the boats before she had a chance to get off the island. Now she has to stick it out. What sucks also is all the people recovering from the 7.1 earthquake last month, the eye of the storm is also over them. All we can do is stick it out, and I'm gonna go out and help out the people there when the storm is done.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
I underestimated Tomb Raider.
I thought I wouldn't like it because I always quit on the games as a kid and I found Uncharted to be lame. I've come to the conclusion that I didn't like Uncharted because of the guns and the characters annoyed me.
The characters have been good and so far I really feel for Lara's troubles in the game. It's probably because it's a female lead, but when pain is inflicted upon her I feel it too.. lol.
I didn't care about Nathan Drake... ****ing prick.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
A Chinese man divorced and then sued his ex-wife for giving birth to what he called an extremely ugly baby girl, the Irish Times reported.
Initially, Jian Feng accused his wife of infidelity, so sure that he could never father an unattractive child.
When a DNA test proved that the baby was his, Feng's wife came clean on a little secret -- before they met, she had undergone about $100,000 worth of cosmetic surgery in South Korea.
Feng sued his ex-wife on the grounds of false pretenses, for not telling him about the plastic surgery and duping him into thinking she was beautiful, The Huffington Post reported.
The kicker? He won. A judge agreed with Feng's argument and ordered his ex-wife to fork over $120,000.
"I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues," he told the Irish Times. "Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me."

Re: Off Topic 2013
It's not the same, but It did remind me I wanted to share something my dad was talking to me about last night.
A guy that started working with them last month explained that he had a friend, who paid him a lot of money to fly overseas and marry his "sister" so she could come to America. Anyways, the marriage has to last around 2 years for her citizenship to be permanent so they were technically married for two years. He lives in a house with his "wife" and his best friend who was her "brother". The catch was, he wasn't allowed to come into a specific part of the house. My dad and my uncle (who also work together) told the guy something was weird about it and the guy kept saying "nah.. you're wrong".
Dude finally decided to go to the back part of the house one night and catches the two of them in the act... So the guy really just wanted him to go over seas and marry his girlfriend so she could come to America and live with him. My dad said the guy still isn't trying to get a divorce or anything to void her citizenship here in the U.S.
Just thought that was a weird situation. They weren't romantically involved and it was a false relationship to begin with. My dad said the guy acts like he's got a few screws loose anyways.. lol.Comment

Back to TR, I started playing it when I moved my 360 to the bedroom, so my wife watched me play most of it. Every time something went wrong for Laura we would sing "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: Off Topic 2013
Mad Men fans.
I'm doing a persuasive speech trying to convince people in my Comm class to watch the show. I did a survey and none of them do and that makes me sad.
Anywho, I have a question.
If you had to distill the whole series down to a single scene that best exemplifies what it is, what would it be?
Has to not be that long, too.
This is where I'm leaning right now:

I thought of something that probably shows the setting and the alcohol and the sexism and all of that more, but I think all of that stuff is just window dressing. I think at its core Mad Men is a show about humanity, and our relationships with each other. And I think this scene is the best example of that.
I'd love other suggestions, though.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Dayman. That scene is great and encapsulates their relationship while also being a barometer for professional "reward systems," but I don't think it would sell people on the show since that scene really hinges on the history between Don and Peggy.
I think the best scene is Don's pitch to Bel Jolie lipstick. It serves Don's magnetic charisma and his bite on a silver platter and features one of the best sales pitch lines I've ever heard.

Another good one would be from the season 2 finale. Don finally lets Duck hang himself and that "I don't have a contract" line is one of the best "oh snaps" of the show. Plus, I love how that episode, and the series as whole, uses historical events to foil the atmosphere and tension of the characters.
