Any one here use StraightTalk service? How is it?

I think it's great. For my wife and I, our previous cell phone bill was almost $90 a month, and now we pay $60 for both phones combined. I don't access the internet or call/text a ton so I don't get the $45 unlimited plan. If you get a smart phone I think you have to get the unlimited plan.

I've never had any issues with signal either. It works for me, but if you had a large family the cost could really add up. For one or two people I think it's the best option out there.

And for some reason the two did mix well in season 1. At least not for me, but I think Dana is better producer after two episodes of Sports Night.

LOL, apparently State College is paying 34 different bars $5k each to not serve alcohol this Saturday in an attempt to curb drinking by college kids. This screams "law of unintended consequences".

There must be a better use for that $170,000 related to alcohol awareness.

I'm not sure if I'd rather be an owner of one of the 34 bars or the owner of another bar in town. You'd have to sell a LOT of booze to clear 5 grand in a night.

At a place like Penn State that has nearly 50k students, I could totally see bars selling that much...random guess, but I'd bet at least half of that 50k are 21 and over, and considering the fact that most people start drinking at 8AM, they could swing 5 grand easy.

They're trying to stop a pre-St. Patrick's Day "holiday" students made up one year when the actual day fell over spring break. And this is what they're doing for anyone cited for an alcohol-related offense:

A magisterial district judge will be on-call all weekend. Individuals who have been arrested without a warrant will be arraigned or held for collateral via video from the central booking center at the Centre County Correctional Facility in Bellefonte. Anyone found guilty and required to post collateral or anyone who is incapable of posting bail will be held in jail until the required fine or bail money is obtained, officials said.

It's going to be complete chaos...instead of being in a regulated drinking environment like a bar, everyone will be at house parties where they can drink whatever they want and not have to worry about being cut off or kicked out.

I guess it would depend what type of bar I had. It might be worth it to just take the $5,000 and not deal with the increased business and hassles that will come along with it. Because it sounds like this is one of those holidays where the people who don't know their limits come out in full force and puke all over the place.

The lack of a decent music festival here in New England really pisses me off. You would think in an area with so many people that we would have at least one annual festival that you could anticipate every year.

Sure, we have a ton of jazz and folk festivals throughout New England during the summer, but those aren't exactly bringing the type of acts I'm willing to pay money to bake in the sun all day to watch.

You have people like that, but really it's no different than a football weekend there or at any major campus. The only reason the arrest numbers are higher is because they bring in 8 local departments and the state police for this.
