Re: Off Topic 2013
Lol, so I officially received a D in that class where the professor busted me on a bull**** academic integrity violation. It's been over 2 weeks and she still hasn't officially reported us, so I've now contacted the Assistant Dean to appeal my grade since I can't appeal the academic integrity issue yet. Should be pretty easy to win a regular grade appeal considering she "graded" my 15-20 page project in 2 minutes and gave it a 0.NFL: Bills

Re: Off Topic 2013
See, it's like this. She set the class up so that the only things we're graded on are our two exams and our project.
Meanwhile, she has like 15 lab assignments that she wants us to do, but since they weren't graded, I would just do like half of each lab or so until I felt comfortable with it and I never actually submitted any of them since I didn't have to.
She's hated me ever since for not being in class/not turning in the labs while I'm acing the exams.
So for the project, I'm working with my partner, and we send her our "project proposal", saying "Hey, we made a few changes to our proposal and wanted to run them by you to see if we're going in the right direction with our project".
She then responded saying that unless we prove that we had turned in a previous version of the proposal (which we didn't, nor did we ever say we did), we will be turned in for a violation of the Academic Integrity Policy because we claimed that we had submitted work that we hadn't actually submitted (...but we never actually claimed that...)
So yeah, we're going to the Undergrad Office tomorrow to complain about her and I'm bringing snapshots of all the bull**** emails and private messages that she's sent me throughout the semester along with the email to prove that we didn't do anything wrong and that she's basically been treating me differently than all the other students the entire semester.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
^^^ Yeah, that's what it is. I've already talked to a couple of professors about writing a character reference of me and explained the situation to them and they all think it's a joke too. They don't understand why the professor is making extra work for herself over something as stupid as this.
But yeah, she still hasn't technically reported us yet; just told us she was going to and gave us a D (partner might have gotten an F, not sure), but since she's taking so long, I'm going to try to just appeal the grade, which, like I said, will be easy to win because I can easily prove she didn't even grade it.NFL: Bills

Re: Off Topic 2013
Kinda random thing to bring up, but it is spring time, so gotta get out stuff/buy what I need for outside this year again...(and since most people on this site seem to be in their 20s-30s, I'm guessing/hoping people here know answer to it)
What would people recommend for cutting grass/weeds near a shed/garage/fence? A normal string trimmer, or an edger? Cause cutting grass normally obviously doesn't cut the grass around the outsides(meaning grass against things like a fence or a wall), but not sure if string trimmers are best way to go(Since the string usually gets cut every several seconds) or if using an edger is actually better way(cause from what I've seen on videos and stuff, looks like edgers just dig into the ground on the outside, and don't actually cut the grass against walls and stuff?)Comment

I go to the U of Minnesota; Seems like all the profs here just don't care that much to have personal vendettas against students, haha. They're all to preoccupied with their research.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Nope. Syracuse University. Never had a problem with any of the other professors besides a few just not being that good. This lady is legitimately evil. She both sounds, looks, and behaves like that one professor in the Harry Potter books that was the lady from the Ministry of Magic.NFL: Bills

Re: Off Topic 2013
Guess so, but the thing I hate bout them is that the strings constantly break, and then the bottom needs to be popped out and the string needs to be manually pulled out in order to replace it, so are there certain kinds that just do it automatically for you instead of having to manually stop and open up something just to get more string?Comment

Re: Off Topic 2013
Maybe it's because I have a tendency to sit in the back and just blend in with the furniture when I go to class, but it seems like my profs are all pretty impersonal and don't really get involved with things like that. TA's do all that grunt work.
All my TA's have been cool though. Then again it's much easier to actually interact with them because there are only 15ish other people in the discussion sections. As opposed to lectures with 100+ people.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Before this past semester I never talked to a professor, barely knew their names, or anything minus maybe a couple of classes like English and pre reqs for my program that had small classes.
Now they all know my name, ill have several of them again before I graduate, etc.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment
