Propaganda films from the 30s and 40s are awesome. I wish Netflix had more of them.

I'm watching Reefer Madness from 1936, and it is the greatest thing I have ever watched.

If Ledger had lived WB would've been pumping the PR machine to get him an Oscar. I don't know if he would've won but his Joker would be viewed in even more of a positive light. It also would've allowed Nolan to have concluded his Batman Trilogy in a more cohesive way as I believe the Joker figured prominently in the original conception.

So I'm at work 4 hours ago, when my girl Facebook messages me telling me our kitchen is under water.

                          Oh cool.

My manager was cool and let me leave about two hours early, and I got home dangerously fast. She doesn't have a phone currently so I needed to be here for a call back from maintenance. Plus, she sucks in emergency type situations and was freaking out, while I'm pretty calm. Didn't know exactly what I'd be walking or swimming back in to.

Been mopping up water since then. Management took a while to get back to me, apparently it's National Everyone Has An Emergency Day, but someone is coming out tonight. Our neighbors have said the plumbing/pipes in this building suck. I'm not trying to be flooded out once a month, so hopefully they fix this instead of bandaid it. Should probably get renters insurance... Management here has been good though, no problems.

Good thing I'm off tonight and the next two days, by some scheduling miracle. Forgot to grab my paycheck in my haste to get home, though. Argh...

Reminds me of the time my apartment's kitchen faucet spontaneously exploded and spat water all over the apartment. Me not knowing to simply turn off the water supply to the sink just sat there panicking and looking for maintenance's number. The moral of the story: dont ignore leaky faucets.

We were compensated for the faulty sink and mild annoyance with a free months' utilities. So that was nice at least.

That may not be a bad lesson to learn; our shower faucet has been leaking since they came out to fix the hot water (it wasn't working when we moved in here two weeks ago). Don't know if it's related to this or not. May as well let them know about that too.

I wish we could've turned off the water, but this was coming up through our sink's drain and eventually overflowed out on to the kitchen floor and some on to the living room carpet. I wonder if that will have to be replaced. I don't want a moldy carpet either.

Leaked down in to the basement too. That's not good.

I just don't want any standing water, and subsequent mold or mildew. Gross. It got behind our fridge and under the oven (it stands slightly off the ground). We moved the fridge the best we could, but they're in for a pretty serious clean up. I don't know what the other maintenance calls were for, but this one seems pretty serious.

It would be cool to be reimbursed or something for the paper towels and mop we had to buy. Plus, I missed a couple hours of work. Our neighbor told us we shouldn't have had to mop up all the water, but I'm not gonna sit here and wait for them to come out and let it sit in the meantime. I don't mind helping out that way.

                                We'll see what happens...
