Because I choose to shake my head, like you choose to smoke with windows up.

I don't go banging on the guy's window and tell him he's crazy and force him to roll down his window. It's my opinion about how stupid it is and my opinion to shake my head at that person.

If it was my friend, I'd tell he smells like crap.

I enjoy cigarettes as much as any other red-blooded american man, but a particular establishment's rules on smoking won't have an effect on my decision to patronize said establishment.

I actually don't care for smoking indoors of any kind. So when it comes to smoker/non-smoker rights, I really don't give a ****. I realize that smoking is flat out disgusting to many people, and I try to be as conscious of that as possible.

Smoking is a nasty habit, and I don't have a problem with it being illegal indoors and in various other public out door areas.
      Now, more than ever

Wow look at that. A smoker that respects humanity.

And some of you smokers need to man up and stop acting like you're feelings are hurt because a few people are saying not to smoke here or not to smoke there. Who cares what we think? There is no law to smoke outdoors, there is a law not to smoke indoors. So until someone's opinion actually changes that. That's all it is.. an opinion. Stop getting so butt hurt about whatever John Doe is saying.

So you can have a strong opinion one way but when others disagree with you they are getting butthurt? Okay.

I agree with the post above yours and abide by the same thoughts as a smoker but you need to step down from your pedestal a bit...

            Option B easily.

I hate smoking, hate the smell, hate the sight of it, hate everything about it.

I wouldn't want to be in a building that allows that crap, whether it be an eating establishment or a bar.

California banned indoor smoking too a while back, and I couldn't be happier with it.

Now if they'd do a better job of keeping smokers away from the doors, then it'd be even better.

Ok, I don't smoke inside my house. I have no children. Some of you are getting over the top, with comments like "They should ban smoking in vehicles". Really!!?? It's my domain! Now, granted, if I'm giving someone a lift, I wont light up if they are nonsmokers. But to pass a law? Come on now...

As for smoking around kids: I don't do that either. But now some of you guys are complaining about smoking outside in parks!!?? This is why I could never live in California, BTW: Can't smoke on beaches, in parks, or even your own damn condo in some cities. Yet they push for legalization of marijuana.......uhh, ok? That for another day.

Bottomline for me: When I'M ready to quit, I will. But I'm one of the few that actually ENJOY it. I don't need more laws, don't need preaching from nonsmokers, etc. That won't make me quit.

NOW-------getting back to the topic at hand: Yes, they passed the "indoor clean air act" here in Nevada. Some bars that have restaurants installed glass enclosures around the bar, to keep the smoke from entering the restaurant.Other bars had to decide between going smoke free, or eliminating the food serving part, which of course meant laying off the food service workers.
But of course, nothing they do to try to comply with both smokers and nonsmokers is ever good enough for the antismoking lobbies: They're now saying this enclosure idea isn't good enough.

And although I don't see it happening, they'd LOVE to make every casino in Vegas smoke-free. Good luck with that. While some casinos have nonsmoking sections, there's still smoking allowed. But again, the lobbyists are complaining that customers have to pass thru the smoking areas to get to the nonsmoking restaurants inside. See? They're never satisfied.

My argument has always been, you go to a bar, you will see people drinking and smoking. Don't like it, don't go. It'd be like me going to a strip club for a hamburger and complaining because there's naked women around.

              /rant.
"Anti-smoking lobby" is hilarious. No one is making money off of eradicating smoking in public areas, it's about improving the health of people in this country and making sure other people don't get harmed just because you and other smokers feel persecuted by having to step outside to smoke.

For those of you who live places where a ban was put in place, how long did it take until you actually didn't smell like smoke when you left? I figure even with it out of the air I am still going to smell like **** when I leave for a while.

You crack me up man haha!

You act like anybody who thinks smoking should be allowed in public is not "respecting humanity".

Just because somebody has a different opinion than you about a completely legal habit, doesn't mean they are butthurt, it just means they have another opinion.

And for the record, I am fine with smoking not being allowed indoors and understand it completely. I do not mind smoking as I used to smoke, so if it was allowed indoors I wouldn't mind that either.

You could definitely still smell it at places (especially bars and bowling alleys) from the tar being on the walls and ceiling, but it didn't make your clothes or jacket smell like if it was still in the air. It has also faded over time.

Yea, you can tell the place was a smoking bar but you don't go home and have to give yourself a fabreeze shower.

You must be misunderstanding me, I'm not complaining that smokers cannot smoke inside, I understand that completely and have no problem with it. I also would have no problem if smokers were allowed inside either since I do not mind smoke.

I just don't like how some people act like smoking cigarettes is the worst possible thing anybody can do. People that have a problem with others smoking in their own cars or outside on the sidewalk just do not make sense to me.

Simply walking past somebody who is smoking outside of Walmart is not going to give you lung cancer or anything. Sure you may dislike the smell, in which case I understand why it may be annoying, but it's not that big of a deal and not something that will effect you for more than 5 seconds.
