I thought that was purposeful. That the amount of saw dust prevented clumping or something. Once people figured it out, they bugged out.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: News that make you say WTF?
A guy built his own staircase in a park because he wanted to help out(and found the estimate from the city to be ridiculous). So he built it himself for $550. The city on the other hand estimated it would've cost them up to $150K(no typo,$150K!) to do it.
They have since tapped up the stairs and said the guy broke the law by doing so.
The City of Toronto has asked an Etobicoke senior who built stairs to a community park for a fraction of an estimate provided by municipal officials to remove the new access point.
The most ridiculous part of the story for me is that $150K estimate! Even if that was false, lets say it cost something like $15k instead...how does it even cost anything that significant for something so small? How much of that money actually goes towards the building of the staircase itself....Comment

Re: News that make you say WTF?
I mean I get why that's illegal to do. Don't know about the $65,000, though. Obviously they have to assure safety and won't just build it out of wood, or at least if they do they'll ensure it's safe of weather conditions and whatnot. I mean I watched that railing move; doesn't look that sturdy.
Just don't know how it would still be that costly, even if workers were contracted for it and it was triple the width. $8,000 max? Maybe with ADA compliance they also build a cement ramp. Then it would start to add up to the tens of thousands I'm sure.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Plus the stairs that guy built, while functional, could cause more injuries than the slope itself. Easy to snag a toe on the bottom of wood or whatnot. It all sounds stupid, but cities are easy targets to be sued if something happens.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: News that make you say WTF?
this is from a prison break right in my neck of the woods.
I'd link it but my android is awful.
a dozen inmates broke out of jail last night using only peanut butter. yep, peanut butter.
they changed the number above one of the cells to one that identifies with one leading outside the jail using peanut butter. they then took advantage of a new jail guard and an inmate asked to be let back in to his cell. the guard called in to open door number such and such, and when the door was unlocked, the dozen hauled A. All but one have been caught to date. This was in Walker County Alabama.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: News that make you say WTF?
Did you know it’s illegal to intentionally alarm or frighten the Queen in Canada? Or that there's a legal limit on the number of coins you can use at a store? These are just a few of the strange laws that Canadians might be breaking, and not even know.
lol, technically it's illegal in Canada to:
-Challenge someone to a duel
-Practice witchcraft
-Have more than 2 garage sales a year
-Pay using too much coinsComment
