Country music sucks now, and has gone more and more towards a pop vibe.

If Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift are the face of country now, I want nothing to do with it.

No, I kinda expected it. They've had late season collapses the past 2 or 3 seasons.

Now tell me Tech has a chance against Baylor, and then I might have that reaction lol.

I used to really listen to a lot of country radio and I feel pretty much the same way. But only about radio country. Just like any other genre, you just have to dig beyond the songs that are on the radio. There's good stuff out there. (Some NSFW. I know that Hayes Carll song for sure is.)

                Not an unpopular opinion.

You just need to get away from Top 40 country and the Bro Country that has gotten big - http://www.policymic.com/articles/72...o-country-song

Check out - http://radiotexaslive.com/listen-live/popup/ - and listen to that stream whenever you want to hear good country music.

Wade Bowen, one of the mainstays on the Red Dirt country scene, sums it up pretty well

Yes, country is too "poppy" for me now. I used to be a big fan. I still love 90's and early 2000's country. George Strait is my favorite of all time. Also love Garth, among many others.

Too many current artists have little to no twang in their voices. And you might as well forget about the steel guitar.

It also seems the lyrics have just gotten lazy now. All chorus and very little originality. I never really listened to that much before the mid-80s but I have to say the one country singer who's songs told one hell of a story was Garth Brooks. And he wrote most of his own songs. The Thunder Rolls and Unanswered Prayers are fantastic stories.

There are a few I like today. I've always liked Brad Paisley. He's somewhat of a throwback. I also like Dierks Bentley. I was a huge Kenny Chesney fan until he went pure mainstream. "She thinks My Tractors Sexy is one of my favorite songs. Not to mention the girl in the video is HHHHHHot. I got to meet him too. Very short guy lol. And very nice.

Most of the "big" names these days don't write their own songs. Taylor Swift is probably the only one who has written and sang mega hits.

I still listen to today's country, but yea, hard to beat the 80's and 90's, and even into the 2000's there was some good stuff. There has still been some good stuff recently though, but mostly by artists that have been around for years.

Garth was (and still is) my favorite. I really like Clint Black, Vince Gill, George Strait, Alabama, John Michael Montgomery, Randy Travis etc... There is some of the current "radio" country that's good. For instance, I liked Cruise by Florida-Georgia Line until they decided to throw Nelly in there just because they could. Really like Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts (though I don't consider them to be country, but they define themselves that way so...) is one of my guilty pleasures musically.

I think the notion of a "tough road trip" in sports like baseball, basketball, and hockey is blown out of proportion.

I get the whole "not sleeping in your own bed" thing, but come on.

Private jets and fancy hotels, how do they do it???
