Re: Uncommon Opinions
If you don't trust people to take care of themselves then why do you care so much about those same people that you care so much about the sport they play and the safety measures for said sport?
Seems to me that you should probably stop watching football as it would save you unnecessary agitation.
I love the sport. I don't love that the players of the sport I love lose their damn minds later in life and get treated like ****. If we can find a way to fix that without ruining the sport, I'm all for it. I think less armor would accomplish that without ruining the sport.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Let me try to understand it. You want to take two human skulls encased in hard plastic shells full of padding, remove all that, and wrap them in a piece of leather with very little padding, which would basically make players literally butt heads?Boston Red Sox

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I am not an expert on the subject but I know there is some science, somewhere, to support the theory. At least on paper. I know it has been talked about for quite some time.
That's just my basic understanding of the theory. That's all I am sayingLast edited by The JareBear; 09-05-2016, 09:10 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I guess.
Im still trying to understand how going back to the Rugby Era basically will help out with the concussion problem. Might as well just say get rid of Football altogether and that's not being hyperbolic either.
There's just no real solution and it'll really come down to the Parents as far as steering their kids towards something else.#RespectTheCultureComment

Not really the concussion problem, but more or less the sub concussive hits problem.

Uncommon Opinions
The reason why the concussion amount is about the same is due to the type of material they use for helmets. The article I read said you can take a 2x4 and put it on top of your finger and hit it with a hammer and do the same with a large yoga mat and your finger is gonna hurt with the piece of wood vs the yoga mat but you'll still be fine but the problem with the yoga mat is if you swing a sledgehammer against it you'll gonna get hurt vs the wood you'd fare off much better.
Basically with leather helmets it would be a matter of time until someone got seriously hurt as in they die. You need a helmet that is hard but yet flexible. Leather isn't an option.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
It's definitely a polarizing topic and a discussion I have always found fascinating.
I wish there was an easy fix that would solve all T.B.I. problems, but as we all know that just isn't the world we live in.
Seems like continuing to enforce harsh penalties for targeting and other violent hits to the head are a step in the right direction and hopefully we continue to develop new technologies and ideas to make football safer, or at least as safe as possible."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: Uncommon Opinions
That's not at all what I'm saying. Keep the game generally the same. Change the pads to where there isn't so much head-to-head contact. The game would be fine.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
What are you gonna do if someone tackles someone cleanly but causes the players head to hit the ground due to the tackle? Today's helmet is going to help better than a leather helmet.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I will say that as far as monitoring players and doing precautionary measures, it's ALOT better now than what they were before.#RespectTheCultureComment
