re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
If you guys have not tried this, I highly recommend it. It is so good and so flavorful.
I'd also recommend using Thick Sliced Center Cut Bacon and not a bad idea if its Applewood or Maple Smoked

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
I liked the Char-Broil with the offset fire box smoker, but I think the larger model is bit large for my needs. The 400 model looks decent, but I saw a Kingsford 24" charcoal grill (very nice setup IMO) for $100 at Wal-Mart that I have my eyes on at the moment.
Another thing is that the Char-Broil grills don't have #-based thermometers. It's like some kids' Fisher Price toy, it tells you when it's "hot enough" or something like that. The Kingsford grill had an actual number reading for the temp.
I'll have to keep my eyes on Craigslist as well. Good idea, especially with many people looking to get new grills and wanting to unload their used ones.
I want to do some smoking with it as well, but I can pull that off without the side box. I'll just do as others have recommended to just put it in some foil, or whatever.Comment

Just ordered a Rotisserie(sp?) for my char griller! Can't wait to put that bad boy to use.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
My family (5 of us) and with extended family or friends I wouldn't expect to be cooking for more than 20-25 people (which would be very rare). I've done it on a crappy little $30 grill before in a pinch.

Showing my bias towards Weber I'd recommend a Weber Performer,
Or head to your local Sam's Club. I got my current grill there and have used it 3 years with a cover and it still looks practically brand new. Paint is powder coated therefor it's not going to burn off from all the heat.

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
The 800 Deluxe has a larger grill area by about 8 burgers (according to their specs) but I would find it hard to say it's worth spending almost twice as much for 28 burgers at a time instead of 20. Although, I'm not sure what Kingsford's reputation is regarding grills and customer service should it be required.
Is there anything you see between the two of them that would justify paying more for the Char-Broil? I don't really know what to look for to be honest.Comment

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
I have two tables on my grill now and I still use a 3rd card table.
I can never have enough space.
Nice thing about the CB is the 2 separate grills so you can grill meats on one and veg on the other.
Or if you have someone with allergies or vegetarian needs, you can keep their food separate.Comment

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
It's got plenty of room for cooking. I don't have one yet, still kicking with my grill from Sam's almost identical to yours. Having dual chambers is nice but I can do everything on a Performer that I can on my current set up.Comment

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
Thats obviously why they make more than one design for grills.
Each person has something different they prefer.
Im not knocking you or your choice, I just know it would drive me nuts.
Thats why I begged my wife for a new grill so I could dump my clamshell.
This is basically what I had ...
