    Nice.

I only have a couple of the SPs (I think Konerko, Rajai Davis and maybe one other) but not the Trouts/Harpers that go for 30 or so on eBay.

I'm going to look at the rest of the cards for other SP's I possibly missed later too. It was nice hitting the best out of bounds SP in the set though!

Nice! That is the only SP Out of Bounds card I need now. I have the other 24 already. eBay prices are crazy for it.

I finally got the Harper SP Out of Bounds on eBay last week. It was a set of Bryce Harper, Buster Posey, and Jay Bruce Out of Bounds. Won the bidding at $39.00.

I made out good though because I already have the Posey and Bruce cards, so once I got them I put them up for sale on eBay for $11.99 each plus $2.07 shipping. I already sold the Posey one, and hoping the Bruce one sells too. Once it does, I will have made $28.00 of my money back from that purchase and the Harper card will only have cost me $11.00 which is a steal for that card.

Nice. Yeah, the Chasing History and Chasing the Dream insert sets are sets worth completing for sure. Chasing the Dream is 25 cards and Chasing History is 50 cards for Series 1 and 50 cards for Series 2.

NOW, every year for the past 7 years, I buy my son a complete set of Topps Baseball Cards for his birthday. I will continue this until he is 18 and on his 18th birthday, I will present him with 18 complete sets of cards from 2006 to 2024. He will have approx 12K cards unopened and complete along with whatever ones he collects along the way. Plus, he will inherit my 30K+.

My dad has done this since I was born, every year buys two factory sets of Topps baseball and football, and basketball until they stopped making it.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

I promised I would post some of the cards in my collection that I'm most proud of, and I don't want to be called a liar, so here goes:

                Spoiler

This one below may not be my most valuable card, but it by far holds the most "meaning" to me.

When I was younger, at least where I grew up at, A-Rod was emerging as a huge name and a fan favorite for all of us young guys. KG24 was still my all time favorite and still is, but A-Rod was kind of like the new guy everybody liked. So needless to say having one of his cards would make you the coolest kid in the neighborhood at the time.

I should also add that growing up our family didn't have the most money in the world. We weren't dirt poor or really "deprived" of things, but we were definitely hurting for money from what I remember. So one day during the summer when my dad was on the road with his sales job he randomly stopped at a card shop and bought me my first pack of the best baseball cards of all time - 1997 Metal Universe.

I open it, knowing it was a rare treat for me, and this is what I pull!

                Spoiler

Having an A-Rod card was enough, but an insert?

Man, there was some pride in my step the next few weeks when my friends came over to look at it.

Also, after leaving this thread I went and did something I've only dreamed of doing as a kid - I bought a box of 1997 Topps Finest.

Finest was great back in the day. There were no Triple Threads or National Treasures that I remember seeing. Just good ol' refractors.

Should have the box in a few days and once the nostalgia high wears off I post the break.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

I loved Topps Finest and Topps Chrome for the refractor inserts. Then the Topps Chrome series went insane and had a billion different refractors in the basketball series, white refractor, black refractor, regular refractor, uncirculated refractor as a boxtopper it got absurd. I'll give the Topps Finest a lot of credit at the time they had some of the coolest insert designs for their cards, I'd rather look at those than some boring run of the mill jersey card.

This reminds me I never managed to get Chris Webber's Topps Finest refractor rookie.

I loved the designs of the mid 90's-early 00's sets a lot, I think they looked a lot better than what came after them, especially the inserts and rookies. Stuff from Topps Finest, Flair Ultra, Flair Showcase, Skybox Autographics, and the EX Jambalaya among numerous others looked awesome.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I just won this wicked Carlos Gonzalez jsy #'d 99 card for .99c:

                      And then I won this Hagadone #'d 99 AU/RC for $5.50:

                      I'm really kicking myself though.

My own ineptness cost me the last bid on a jsy/auto Austin Romine RC that was just great. Winning bid was like $7.72 or some junk

NT Cards are so beautiful. I should probably scan the 3 I got in.

Every time I visit this thread my bank account yells at me. Just put in some bids on ebay.

That's why I moved away for college. I spend far less time at card shows and shops. It's like a heroine addiction I tell ya.

Correct. No MLB license for Panini sadly. It's literally the only knock I have on their National Treasures. Beautiful cards, but no logos/caps/team nicknames shown brings them down just a slight notch. Still an amazing line though.
