You bought any Bowman yet? It has been released at retail (Walmart, places like that) from what I have read.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I'm not a collector collector, but I was big into cards when I was younger and now... I really enjoy those few times per year when I end up at a mall in South Bend where a card shop guy sells early to mid-90's packs of NBA cards for a dollar a piece. As much as I hated 1991's Fleer style, I can't turn down 53 cars for a buck. I never really know where to put them when I'm done with the experience of opening them and finding what I have, but it's still great.
I always liked 1994's Fleer series, only because as a kid I was drawn to the spray paint inspired neon coloring... and the per 48 minutes stats (if only they let Jack Haley play the entire game, he would have averaged over 30 points!). All the cards obviously are worth nothing but still, great fun. This is the series I speak of:
Separately, as a youth I collected David Robinson cards and had/have over 300. That's my card collecting high point, alongside that time I was at a garage sale and bought a box of cards from the brother-in-law of a deceased Chicago card shop owner and for $10 and ended up with a $200 Jordan and dozens of other Jordan and Shaq cards from the early to mid-90's (and an autographed Frank Thomas baseball). As cool as that was, I always wonder what else I left behind, because I only bought a small bit.Last edited by VDusen04; 05-06-2013, 06:23 PM.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I haven't bought any yet. Might by a couple blasters from walmart, but next time I go home I think I'll buy a box. I don't rip too much, 95% of what I buy are singles. But Bowman I always buy a little of.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Every time I stop by Target (not our WalMart, their little tiny card section is way in the back of the store and severely neglected) their blasters of Bowman ,though I think all they do carry is Chrome, gets me without fail. Like 30 bucks spent almost every time I go there.badComment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I have TONS of cards still at my parents house that my Mom is always bugging me to take out of there. I was a hardcore collector from 1985-1993 and have a lot of factory sets. My Mom used to take me to card shows on the weekends a lot, and some featured major league players signing autographs. Ben McDonald, Tom Gordon, Mark Grace, and Andre Dawson were all shows I attended. Those were the days of 100 plus dealers in a hotel reception room.
I've kept a random eye on the card market and would have been better off selling my good ones back in the early 90's when they were worth something. I'll still hold onto them in hopes they go up but when I was a kid I thought they'd really be worth something someday. Plus I loved my collection.
My biggest moment collecting cards was when I bought my first pack of 1989 Upper Deck ($1.50 was INSANE for a pack back then) and inside was a Ken Griffey Jr rookie! That card was selling for $50 at the time and was pretty rare. I still have it and a bunch of other Griffey Jr. cards. I also have the infamous Billy Ripkien "F-Face" card from a pack of Fleer. That was worth money for about a year as well and $20-50 back then seemed like a lot of cash to young me.
The only thing I won't part with is my Andre Dawson collection. He's my favorite player and I own over 280 different cards of him. At one time I had every card you could have of him but after high school I fell behind on all the special cards released.GT: Herkyalert

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Finally found a store with the new Bowman set. Bought me one of their "value packs." Nothing special came out of it, but had to get it out my system. Back to ebay I go.
Check That, there was a Shelby Miller RC. So there's thatComment

Went out on a whim and bought a 3 boxes of 2013 Bowman. Just the regular hobby boxes. It was a good day, which at worst case I can sell one card and break even.
Here we go.

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
If you want to get the most money for it, now is the time. The value will only continue to go down most likely the further away from release you go. That being said, great auto.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Made my first ebay purchase, may have overpaid but it feels good to win the auction regardless. I saw this card and as a braves fan HAD to have it. Love the jersey and auto obviously. Ebaying cards could now become a problem.
