Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Bah, won an auction for bowman box break(hobby) the other day. Got nothing of value, but was able to increase my personal collection of Cubs prospects. Now have just about every one of the Prospect that have a card out.
For $3.50 that aint bad.
Also here's the user if anyone is interested.
My cards arrive tomorrow. Hopefully everything is okay so I can do that again.Comment

I wouldn't worry about BV so much unless you plan on trading. Cards rarely sell for that much, and you are more likely to get the going rate by searching auctions that have already ended for the same card.Fan of....

I bought the Royals and Rays (hoping to get the prospects the Royals lost in the Shields trade) on that box break for $3 a piece. I'd love anything Christian Colon or Salvador Perez from the Royals. On one break I watched there were two sweet Salvy cards so fingers crossed.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
Even though most of my focus is on YouTube videos, I actually also have a diverse collection of Sports Cards sitting on my shelves from the past 3-4 years. I just decided to see what's under this part of the forums and boom, I see a Sports Card thread, lol. But anyway, I took a few pictures of some of my newer high-quality stuff to post here. I only have three because my camera is a piece ofsomeone paid me $20 to take. So, here they are:
2012-13 ITG Motown Madness A-SY Steve Yzerman SP
You know, I actually got this card by luck. I went over to a card shop in downtown here (some hole in the wall), and the place was packed right to the ceiling with cards. The guy that ran the shop convinced me to buy this box, even though I had never heard of this set. Long story short, I got this in the first box. I'm a Red Wings fan, so it was a crazy hit for a series I just took a chance at.
2012 Topps Platinum #131 Coby Fleener AUTO RC
Nothing really special about this card at all, only got it for $5 at a Trade Show near Detroit. I have a feeling Fleener will grow with Andrew Luck, rising the value of this card.
2007 Bowman Chrome BBPP140 Travis d'Arnaud AUTO RC
This one I also got at that Trade Show, but this card caused me problems. I was walking through all the rows of tables in the main area, just looking at the booths, when I started talking to this guy in his thirties. He had the newer stuff I was actually looking for, and I just noticed this card sitting on the table. I told him I would think about it, and if I had the money I would come back... skip ahead ten minutes. I'm still looking down the last rows of show, when I notice a Roy Halladay card. I forget what kind it was, but it was one of the rarer cards, I think Bowman. I asked the guy running the booth if he could lower the price. He answers back saying "I can go down to $30 max." So I start counting my money, but I have this card here on my mind completely, so if I wanted both cards, I would've had to be pay only $19 for the Roy Halladay. Long story short, I got so nervous I started mumbling like an idiot, and the guy is just getting more and more mad because I didn't say how much I could go for. I just walked away and got this card before anything else happened.
2012-13 Panini Timeless Treasures Glass Rookie #246 Tristan Thompson
Finally, this card almost drove me up the wall, because I waited over 9 months to get this one card through the Panini Redemption program. If you can remember, because of the lockout you could get Rookie Redemption cards in boxes of 2011-12 Panini Past and Present Boxes. I already knew I wanted one of these cards pretty bad, so I had to save for 2 months just to get it. I opened up the box, and for the most part, it was filled with dud after dud. The only bright spot was an unmarked redemption card for the 2011 Draft, which was what I wanted. But... something had to go wrong. I put in my redemption for my card sometime around July of 2011, thinking I would get it in the fall. After all, it shouldn't be too hard to get a redemption right? ....... The Redemption turned into frustration. Absolute frustration. The order for my redemption had never processed by the time December rolled around, and there was no word on any of the Past and Present RC's. Let's skip ahead to September 2012. I STILL hadn't gotten my card, with no feedback from the company. I saw a tweet from Leaf saying their redemptions only take up to 28 Days. Of course I replied to the tweet saying I had still be hung out to dry for around a year for a player I didn't even know. And, for some odd reason, a guy replied, giving me the twitter to Panini's Support. That's when I finally got going with this card, where I was told Tristan Thompson didn't sign enough of the cards when they were made, so they sent me an even rarer card, printed /25. Long story short: if you buy a redemption card or pull one, prepare for the pains of waiting.
I'll post more during the day when my camera actually works. Finally got a place to talk Sports Cards.Comment

Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread
I think I've said it in this thread before, but all I want is the most elusive card of my childhood:
It was easier to win the lottery back then than it was to pull this card from an Upper Deck pack in 1989.
Now, I could probably buy five of them for 100 bucks. And, I will, eventually. I have two sons and would love to give them one as well. Pretty cool to have your dad's favorite card from his childhood, especially when it was a card that he failed in trying to get the old fashioned way.
Best card ever, IMO...Comment
