Re: Official OS Sports Card Collecting Thread

I get sucked in way too easily. Was at Target, saw they had some 2013 panini team usa baseball packs. I grabbed a couple just to think about it, noticed one was heavier/thicker than the other, so I dropped the lighter one and went in searching for more.

Now the only card from this set I was interested in was Kris Bryant, and I knew there was a 0 % chance of nabbing him I decided on only buying the two thickest packs I could find.

One of the packs had this

The other was just a tease as it was just some white cardboard.

So in other words, add Target to places I should avoid for fear of spending more money on this.

Alright you bastards, you got me buying baseball cards again

First time I've bought a pack since 07.

Got a box of topps 2013 cards. Nothing really special

and 3 packs of Bowman 2013. I really like these cards, they are just nice to look at, even though 95% of the prospects I got will probably never do much.

Probably the best two I pulled were Gregory Polanco and Alex Meyer.

I'm obsessed with trying to pull a Puig or a Will Myers. Thanks alot guys

I went to the Cubs Single A affiliate Kane County Cougars game today, was able to snag a few autos, Rock Shoulders, Dan Vogelbach(top 5-10 Cubs Prospect) and Albert Almora.

Voggy and Almora were signed on those Bowman Mini Chromes cards, unfortunately I fudged up with Almora, I didnt allow the sig to dry and it smudge a bit when I put the card back in the penny sleeve.

Target's coupon page online has a dollar off coupon when you buy two Topps packs, if you're interested.

Looking to accumulate some decent stuff, collect a few bucks. I'm sure people in this thread have sold on EBay. Do you *have* to get them certified to get them sold?

If by certified you mean graded... No.

I sold my Buxton for 450 and that was pulled from the pack, put in a magnetic case and shipped just like that.

Saw that Bowman Platinum has released, thought about picking up a blaster while at Target today, but refrained. Got to save up for that Bowman Draft set.

The biggest issue with Bowman Inception and Sterling, in regards to selling your cards, is that unless you get a big hit they just aren't worth as much as the regular Bowman Chrome cards. It's a shame too, I think the design on Inception is MUCH better than Chrome.
Besides the thrill of opening the cards and possibly getting a huge hit, you'd be better off just buying singles off of Ebay.

That's ok with me, I'm one of those weird guys that just buys cards, because I enjoy looking at them, and I love baseball. I don't really care that much about their worth. So those Inception cards, are stunning to me, from a collectors standpoint.

                        Forgot to add.

Picked this bad boy up at a Flea Market for 4.00, I had to.

So, I was in South Bend for the weekend. At one point, I was sitting outside at a Jimmy Johns table while my friend ordered inside. I'd just bought two packs of cards earlier and was slowly working my way through them all. Then a guy walked by and sort of stared abnormally long in my direction as he passed. I thought he was a Notre Dame fan taking umbrage with my Michigan t-shirt.

My friend came out, but I was still kind of worried about that guy, like he might do something on his way out of Jimmy Johns. When he finally emerged, he looked in my direction once more, before saying,

                            "1990 Fleer?"

                            Dude nailed it.

                            That's all. Carry on.

I was looking for a way to store/organize some of my cards, and I stumbled across these things at Dollar Tree. You can get the longer blue one in the picture, or they have a pack of two that's around half the size for $1. They are probably 3" or so wide, and will fit cards in top loaders or team bags. It wouldn't quite fit my graded cards though. Still a great deal cheaper than the cardboard storage options, the only drawback being there isn't a lid.

For size comparison, the larger one is about the size of a 550ct cardboard container.
