Re: Deepest, darkest secrets you're willing to share about yourself

I kinda know what you're going through, or at least where you're coming from, as I've had occasional episodes where I'll just have some minor issue and start thinking the worst and worry myself. Had a couple experience back when I was in college where I just about gave myself anxiety attacks. Once I had been having stomach pains for a while and was just about convinced I had stomach cancer. I eventually figured out it was the multi-vitamins I'd been taking that were irritating my stomach. Also, after my dad died from a heart attack when I was in 7th grade I tended to worry about my own heart health a lot for a few years even though my sister and I had both had complete cardiac workups which had come back totally normal.

Thanks for the reply Burgh. Not that I'm happy you have some of these issues, but its nice to hear from someone who understands what I'm going through. As of late, I've been in almost a constant state of panic. I have been on a number of anti-anxiety medications and none of them seem to work for me. I'm starting to think intense psychotherapy is what I need.

That's what it sounds like. You're creating the anxiety so even if the anti-anxiety medication worked, it wouldn't get at the cause.

I fit every symptom I have into the symptoms of a catastrophic disease. And literally believe I have that disease. Its debilitating at times and very hard on my family because no matter how many times they tell me I'm ok, I just can't believe them. I have been told by a therapist that this is a serious mental illness. Unfortunately there isn't very many good treatments for it.

I guess I just had to get this out there since I am dealing with it pretty severely right now.

          Thanks for listening.

              1) I dont hate auburn as much as I let on that I do. Bodda Getta.

              2) I rather enjoy the musical stylings of one Stefani Germanotta.

              3) EDIT: Nevermind, I'll take this one to my grave.

              4) There is a reason O.P.P. and Some Folks Like to Steal are two of my most favorite songs.
              I'll leave it at that.

I have a new bad habit I've acquired lately but I don't wanna stop:
I now watch General Hospital everyday.
the stuff is pure drivel, but I can't help myself.
I dvr it every day and it takes me just bit over 30 minutes to knock out an episode

I'm guilty too. I used to watch Days Of Our Live's in college.

Watched Golden Girls all summer in high school. Straight guy. No regrets. Would do it again.

Re: Deepest, darkest secrets you're willing to share about yourself

I'm a very open book and don't really have anything I wouldn't tell anyone, except for this.

                          Oh, high school.

Many moons ago, RIGHT before my wife and I began dating I was someone who liked to look around and date around for sure. I was a complete A-hole to girls, which is probably why I was liked in high school... hate that so much...

                          So the story.

My best friend from 1st grade had three different dating periods with this one girl, the "hottest girl in school" during high school with the last ending senior year.

Now during their last break-up I began talking to a girl (future wife). We became friends and talked every single day, but it wasn't romantically whatsoever for a good time.

Now, about two months after my best friend and his girlfriend broke up, I get a fun text asking ME to go on a date...by his ex-girlfriend. Wut.

Me being me, I say sure. As the days are coming up I feel like a GIANT POS to my best friend and this girl I'm talking to. Go on this date. Hated it. She was very dull.

She wanted to go hang and do other activities, I said no thanks, and dropped her off after the track meet and dinner date...lol, high school dates for the win.

It's been about 10 years, and yep, never have said a thing about it. Both my friend and my wife absolutely hate this person, and yep, went out with her for some reason. Never to be 17/18 again.

I feel like a lot of people do this, so not that dark, but I talk to myself. A lot. Especially in my car. Caught myself doing it at the grocery store while bemoaning the price of diet soda. Or soda in general. "Almost $9 bucks for Diet Sun Drop? Get out of here." And audible excitement over witnessing Oaxaca cheese going on sale when it's usually freakin' $6 bucks for 10-12oz.
