Not for nothing, but why watch anything on it? Why do we have to be so quick to know who and what? These days, once something of valuable information happens, it will be reported very quickly. I say we don't tune into this garbage and stop feeding their greed.

Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon
I got rid of my cable in '09-ish and struggled initially not being able to watch Sportscenter over breakfast anymore. But over time, I feel much cleaner being outside of that particular circus (leaving me now with just an internet circus to deal with). Still, there's a better feeling of control on the interwebs, as I'm basically choosing what I read or hear about. So now I miss out on some pop-culture (ex: never read about Tim Tebow and since no cable, no oversaturation via TV) but I feel better about not being beaten over the head with stuff like that.Last edited by VDusen04; 04-17-2013, 05:26 PM.Comment

Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon
I feel you. Separating oneself from the never-ending news cycle can be very freeing and cathartic. Even cutting off ESPN can do more good for your well-being than you may have ever imagined. It can all be kind of insufferable, but we deal with it, because it's what we're used to.

I wish I could just watch my pacers and colts games. I follow them both on twitter now and thats not near as full of junk. I fully support a TV free living.
As far as this whole suspect may or may not have been identified or arrested.. I'll believe a news outlet when the guys name is given and he's been tried and sentenced.

I don't want to say that having cable and the various media outlets are bad. That's my intention. I too just have internet and my phone. I heard of this story via a news source from online. I decided then that I would not seek out any video on the matter. I just don't need to see it.
I am concerned that the people behind this get dealt with. I want to see that happen, but me hovering over the issue isn't going to expedite anything.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon
A twenty-year-old man who had been watching the Boston Marathon had his body torn into by the force of a bomb.
Why the search, the interrogation, the dogs, the bomb squad, and the injured man’s name tweeted out, attached to the word “suspect”? After the bombs went off, people were running in every direction—so was the young man. Many, like him, were hurt badly; many of them were saved by the unflinching kindness of strangers, who carried them or stopped the bleeding with their own hands and improvised tourniquets. “Exhausted runners who kept running to the nearest hospital to give blood,” President Obama said. “They helped one another, consoled one another,” Carmen Ortiz, the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, said. In the midst of that, according to a CBS News report, a bystander saw the young man running, badly hurt, rushed to him, and then “tackled” him, bringing him down. People thought he looked suspicious.Comment

Didn't say it was true. It's from Facebook, not the most reliable thing in the world. Just thought it was interesting. And it's not like it's any backpack either, the one in the wreckage and the one those people are holding look similar.Comment

Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon
Huge explosion about 90 miles south of Dallas at a fertilizer plant. I live about 90 miles away and it shook my house. The population in the area isn't high so I don't think it's anything other then a really bad coincidence.
CNN reporting that the two guys in some of the pictures in that 4chan link are "possible suspects". CNN wouldn't show the picture, but said one of them had a white hat and one with a running jacket. The two bags that look like have heavy objects in them appear to be the main focus.Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 04-17-2013, 11:31 PM.Comment

Re: Terrorist Attack at the Boston Marathon
Gee, thanks CNN. The FBI is going to look at every video and still image from around the areas on race day, anybody in those images with a bag or backpack large enough will be a "possible suspect", and will continue to be until they are excluded.Comment
