I'd take most of SoCal's traffic over DC (the worst I've ever had to live with) and Chicago (tied with LA traffic for me.)
DC is easily the worst traffic I've ever had to deal with. You aren't joking on that. The problem with working in the defense industry means it's frequent trips to DC. Nothing like trying to make that drive from Herndon/Reston in to DC at the wrong time of day.

On a positive note, it looks like they are expanding the Metro all the way out to Dulles, so I may be able to get away with no rental cars or at least much less driving on my next trip out there.

For LA as you mention, only really really bad traffic i deal with in L.A. would be getting in to downtown via 10/110/405 etc at the wrong time, and basically any time around the airport. 101, as you get in to the valley can suck as well. But still nothing like I have experienced in some other locations.

I live near Syracuse, NY and while I do like NY a lot, I cannot stand the weather. I hate snow and cold weather.. for awhile now I have been realistically looking at moving to San Diego and attend a community college there and probably just stay. The beach, the weather, the girls.. that's my idea of paradise

The Metro going to Dulles would be huge. I don't live there anymore (but truly loved my time living in that city) and would always gladly pay more to fly into/out of Reagan just because I disliked the trip to/from Dulles.

I usually fly in to Dulles because our main office is in Herndon, which is right there. But yeah, Metro service from Dulles to DC would be huge.

Rather live back home in Canada, but I'm fine in Minnesota where I am. There aren't many states I'd move to here. Minn, Wisc, Mass, NY, maybe California and then some of those upper East Coast area states that I've never been to, but I understand are pretty nice.

Last time there, landed at Houston Hobby Airport, at 2:00, took me 1:35 to go 14 miles to my destination. No accidents, no wrecks, just a ton of traffic on that ridiculous beltway they designed.

you talk of So. Cal traffic. Have you ever been here?
I've never had those problems in Houston. Did in Dallas. Always was in lots of traffic, but it was always moving.

I know someone that lives and works in the LA area. He hates it, or maybe his tolerance for "traffic" is much, much lower, but I think everyone's is the same. He says the weather makes up for it though.

And I agree on DC. I go to Alexandria a lot to see a friend of mine and have to take the Capital Parkway and go right through DC. Stop-and-go for no reason what-so-ever. It can be a clear, sunny weekend afternoon. No wrecks, no baseball game, no hockey game, no major events, and no one is moving at all. Once I get to I-295, though, I'm fine. I use the Metro once in Alexandria. No reason to drive further into the city than you have to.

Solidifying plans to move to Arizona so i guess thats part of my answer. Phoenix area. Seems like all the notable cities are within driving distance. Sedona, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tucson, Glendale, Tempe. It's hot as balls but you can drive to the mountains and see snow.

Seattle, Oregon, and Colorado have also intrigued. I also don't mind the Poconos in PA. Something mountainous and more fresh.

I like where I live now, it's convenient, not too cramped, seasonal. But I've been here. The opportunities here are usually elsewhere, if that makes sense.

A state that must have a local culmination of major sports teams (baseball and football especially), proximate beach distance, non-humid summer weather... and In-N-Out Burger.

The west coast it is for me! Where I am now, or San Diego.

Where abouts do you live, I'm on Tipp Hill? Syracuse winters are pretty brutal but I will take the 5 crappy to decent months for 7 beautiful months. It's been mid 70s and sunny for the past week and a half!

Having lived all over I love Syracuse and here is why: Traffic is never a issue(except construction season), weather is good(winters aside it really is beautiful), solid sports town, great night life, and it is really cheap to live here. Housing is so cheap here, your money just goes a lot further( a $200,000 house here is essentially a mansion).

Young people like to leave where they are born but everyone I have talked to that moved away from Syracuse regrets it. That being said, you need to move to experience all that this country has to offer; living in one place all your life is not healthy.

Either New York City or Los Angeles. I'm young so this will probably change when I get older, but right now I want to be in a bust exciting area with lots of stuff to do us I'm not really an outdoorsman
