Incoming statements all starting with the letter I:
I used Michigan a lot back on the late 90s NCAA games.
I always rolled with Auburn, Arizona State, Nebraska, or Michigan.
I wish Gamebreaker could make a return. Those were fun.
I miss being a little kid and just being fascinated by college football.
I Still love it, but it's not the same innocent love. Over the years I've just become really emotionally invested and I hate how the sport can put me in a bad mood, but it's worth it for those moments like 2010.Comment

Re: Newbie Michigan fan; advice needed
Been a Michigan fan for the better part of the last decade. I remember really getting into football and deciding I was going to play in elementary school. For some reason I preferred NCAA to NFL, (still do today) and the first real big time game I remember watching, and actually paying a lot of attention to was the Rose Bowl in 2004, Michigan vs USC. Michigan lost, but I started following them. Besides Notre Dame, who I can't stand (my stepdad is a fan), you don't have a lot of options when you're looking for a team to root for living in Indiana. Sure, there's Purdue and IU, but a 4th grader isn't going to associate himself with mediocre teams. So, that was my start.
I've followed Michigan football since that bowl game in 2004, I've grown up watching them. I don't know of any Michigan fans in my area, but that doesn't matter to me at all. My buddies and I always watch the UM-ND games, and it's a good time. I take some **** for liking Michigan, but it's all good. I've spent all of about a half hour in Michigan, so I can kind of relate to your problem about never going there, although I'm a lot closer than you. I've been to games though, every time Michigan comes to Champaign to play Illinois, I'm there.
You can like any team for any reason, and that's why sports are great. It doesn't matter if you like a team, if you're a fan of the way a certain team plays or you just like watching good football. You could say that I started out as a bandwagon fan back in the day, but I stuck with it. I'm not going to call you out for wanting to like Michigan because you've got a buddy there or whatever, as long as you're enjoying the game, because to me that's what it's all about.
My advice, just hate Ohio, you'll fit in fine.Comment

Re: Newbie Michigan fan; advice needed
The thing I don't understand is why do you need advice on how to be a Michigan fan? Just do what you do for Clemson but do it for Michigan.
I'm surprised to read through this and not see an explicit rant from PsyblastWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
