Florida and Texas should be highest on your list. No income taxes and north Florida is not too expensive.

I wouldn't mind moving back to Pensacola. Of course, you have the beach, the downtown area is average (nothing special, but not bad either). The traffic isn't bad except for during certain events and the cost of living isn't that much different that Baton Rouge. The only thing that would be a deterrent is the job situation. I really enjoyed my time there though.

              Tennessee too.

Nashville would be great. Absolutely loaded with hot women. It's the mecca of this country due to CMT.

Cost of living is $$$$ compared to Texas and most of Florida. I'm sure there are parts of Washington that are comparable, but to live near Seattle, you are going to pay much more than you would to say, live in the Dallas or Houston area.

Tennessee doesn't have quite the appeal of Texas and Florida though, and you do pay income taxes on interest, but no one knows what that is anymore when rates are <1%.

                    Re: I want to move

I applaud you for recognizing that you need to make this change to better your life. It'd be easy for you to just keep doing what you are doing and never leave. Good on you for having the courage to step out of your comfort zone.

I lived in Tallahassee for 4 years and really enjoyed it. Part of that time was spent attending school at Florida State, but I mostly busted my butt and worked as many jobs as I could get my hands on as I tried to beef up my resume for a sportswriting job. I really liked the city and I think there's some good career opportunities there. I grew up in a small town in Central NY and so making the move to Tallahassee was scary, but I am really glad I did it.

Seattle is a really cool area and would be high on my list if I was doing a move like this and was in my early-20's. Eclectic crowd and a lot to do.

Of course, I'm biased towards Colorado but Denver is pretty expensive so not a great place to try and start fresh unless you have a good-paying job.

Best of luck to you wherever you wind up!

Nashville is better than Austin. Hotter women, better music, 2 pro sports teams, and cost of living in Franklin is great.

I lived in Denver for 4 years and really hope to get back there in the future, but you're right. It's tough to manage without a good paying job, however you can find some nice deals on living if you look hard enough. My fiancee and I lived in a 1 bedroom condo downtown for a very reasonable price... but we got really lucky I think.

*notices where you live* I suspect some bias? And I never mentioned Austin, I mentioned Dallas and Houston. Houston which has a lower cost of living than Nashville I believe, Dallas offers 4 pro teams and Houston 3... ok maybe we'll toss out the Astros. And there are a helluva lot more hot women in DFW and Houston. Having lived across Tennessee for a chunk of my live and making various trips to Texas, I think many would agree with me in that regard.

It doesn't hurt that Houston is damn near on the Gulf.

                            I don't live in Tennessee.

I've been to Nashville quite a bit. The amount of southern belles in that city is insane. If you're in your twenties and single then Nashville should be where you want to move to. Just go to the mile of bars and enjoy hot women, good music, and no cover charge.

Denver is awesome but expensive. I thought it would be much cheaper than San Diego, was mistaken.

Beantown have you spent much time in Maine?
