Re: Going to New York for a few days...
Oh, ok, i didnt know if you were joking or thought there was a difference for real. Pepsi cans sold on the carts in NYC have New York posted on them so the collectors can identify New York cans from product from other states. Has to do with the 5C refund thing NYC has. Its the same Pepsi as in any other part of the country though.
Sometimes the ambiance and setting just make us enjoy things more lol

Why do they also ship "regular" Pepsi to NY and why is the ingredient list slightly different then?Oh, ok, i didnt know if you were joking or thought there was a difference for real. Re: Going to New York for a few days...
Im not sure that the ingredients are different, Pepsi is made in NY, not shipped here, they produce the special cans here in NY and put them right on trucks and deliver them. Those cans can be found on like hot dog vendors carts and things like that. Trust me man, if NY had a special tasting pepsi, everyone would know about it, it would be a "thing".Comment

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I suppose Rock of Ages would be the musical I'd see if I had to go see one. Depends how much it is, though.
9/11 Memorial is definitely at the top of things for me to see. I don't care about Empire State Building really, already had my fill of big building exploration when I saw Sears Tower in Chicago. If I see it while walking, eh cool.
Will check out the food suggestions, and thanks for the cheesecake suggestion as cheesecake is probably my favorite dessert lol.Comment

If you're into Soul Food, go to Sylvia's on Malcolm X Blvd in Harlem.
If you're into Chocolate/Dessert or anything, then hit up Max Brenner in East Village.#RespectTheCultureComment

Pizza - Grimaldi's in Brooklyn (extremely long lines to get in)
Grimaldi's is the consensus best pizza in NY.Comment

Re: Going to New York for a few days...
I don't know if it's changed since the last time I ate there, which was a while ago, but I found Sylvia's to be horribly overrated. The food had been good before, but I think once she started expanding (another restaurant in Atlanta and then getting into canned goods), the quality of the food went down. Coming from Brooklyn, I was pissed the last time I went uptown to Sylvia's and got food. Some good soul food spots in Brooklyn, although not really a sit down type place. The food at the Carolina Country Kitchen on Atlantic and Saratoga is on point. There was a place on Flatbush, too, that I believe was run by Diddy's mama, that was pretty good, although somewhat overpriced.
And I would suggest going to the OG Junior's in downtown Brooklyn, not the Manhattan knockoff.Broadway isnt really for me either but Ive never been disappointed after seeing a play there. They are usually fantastic.
Im blanking on good spots to go to in the city, but you gotta try a cheesecake at Junior's. And you can pretty much spend a week doing all kinds of stuff at Times Square alone.Comment

Re: Going to New York for a few days...
I may be driving near NYC in a couple of days, perhaps with enough time to stop and stay for a day or two. I took a look at some hotels in Manhattan, near Central Park. Is that an okay spot? Are folks typically able to park somewhere around there? I have zero NYC knowledge, but I figure if I'm out that way, I should give it a stop. Is there a recommended/affordable way of doing so?Comment

John's pizza on Broadway. And yes, Junior's in Brooklyn is a great spot as well. For breakfast, Cafe Latte in Harlem...French toast there was kickin!
EDIT: didn't realize this was an old thread. I went to NY this past January. We stayed at the Sheraton Times Square. We wanted to experience the "main attraction". We used tour buses to get around, but regretted not using the subway system as soon as we got there. It was fun, easy to get around and cheaper.
So much to do, so little time. Definitely would like to get back out there soon. Maybe link up with some of my NY OSers too.Last edited by ScoobySnax; 04-06-2014, 09:38 PM.PSN: xxplosive1984Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Affordable Parking are words that I wish I could put together when it comes to NYC. The parking garages really try to beat you over the head with hourly costs.

How does it typically work when staying at hotels downtown? Are garages nearby? Real costly? Does the hotel ever have offers to make parking more affordable?Comment

Re: Going to New York for a few days...
If I were you, I'd honestly look into parking at a train station outside of the city and taking the train in. I've been to Manhattan once, and I would never take a vehicle into the city. Doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.Comment
