I was on a bike ride earlier today and realized that a bike trail is a lot like the road. There are the same stupid people blocking your way, cutting you off, etc. On bikes, people are on the wrong side of the road. Stupid and dangerous.

Re: Something I don't understand...
I get pissed. But I don't endanger a life like that. That's crazy.About 10 years ago, I was on my way home from work, going the speed limit, when a guy started tailgating me. The next lane was open, so I tapped my brakes to slow down hoping he would just pass me. He started flipping me off, flashing his lights, etc. He then followed me about 5 miles down this road, until I finally pulled off into a neighborhood to try and lose him. He tried to run me off the road a couple of times, until I was finally able to make a quick turn and lose him. Probably the scariest moment I've ever had behind the wheel. People are crazy.EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

Re: Something I don't understand...
Worst one I've done. It was several years ago, I was going back home. I was around Nashville, lots of traffic, rush hour pretty much. Speed limit is around 55 near the city and I'm going with the flow at around 70 in the fast lane, plenty fast given the conditions. Some dude in an ugly *** orange Suzuki ends up on my tail, flashes his headlights and everything, oblivious to the fact there is a line of cars in front of me. He couldn't get around me in the other lane because of the traffic. So I brake check him. Not like slamming on the brakes, but enough to give him a bit of a scare. There was no one close enough behind him so I made sure I wasn't going to come out looking as bad as him.
It must have snapped him back to reality because he was the model driver after that. He slowed down, got in the right lane and I never saw him again. I couldn't have cared less if he tried to do anything else. If he tried to run me off the road or anything like that, he would just caused a few dozen cars to pile up and then he'd have been in deep ****.Last edited by Redacted01; 08-16-2013, 12:35 PM.Comment

Re: Something I don't understand...
To me, that's a normal reaction and result. But I usually don't care much about those people. I may put my hands up as if to say "Where do you want me to go?" but I don't really get mad. I think the worse thing I DO (and still do frequently) is if I'm behind someone going slow as hell in the left lane bc they're on the phone or (usually) texting, when there is a chance to get in front of them I will do the brake check. I'll only do it if it's the left lane but clearly they aren't paying enough attention no matter the lane. Who knows if it ever makes a difference, but I want to give them a reason to pay attention to the road.Worst one I've done. It was several years ago, I was going back home. I had a guy in front of me in the left lane once going about 45 bc he didn't want to pass the truck in the middle lane, which was backed up so going slower. After a good mile of this I gave him a quick flash of the lights and he slammed on the brakes... literally stopped in the left lane on 395. Luck for me there was a cop about 2 cars behind me who came up and asked him wtf he was doing. Like I said, it's not always the aggressive drivers that are the problem.Comment

Re: Something I don't understand...
I was driving up through north Charlotte yesterday on I-77.. there was a wreck apparently and traffic was awful, so I was trying to get off at the next exit in order to take a back road.
I'm in the right lane a couple of miles before the exit and I start seeing people driving down the right shoulder to pass everyone to get to the next exit. I saw at least 30-40 cars do this, which of course bogged down the exit, because they all have to get back onto the highway at the exit.
So I finally get to the exit and I'm behind a semi, so I'm right behind him so people can't try to swerve in front of me to get back on the actual road. A guy nearly sideswipes me and has the nerve to flip me off and get pissed because I'm not allowing him to cut me off to get back on the highway.

Same one as in in the IndyCar series. Push the button, it basically turbocharges their truck so they can get their *** out of the way. What normally takes a couple minutes for many trucks is now done in seconds.Comment

Re: Something I don't understand...
My grandfather at 81 was sharper than some 20-somethings I know. He could drive a truck and trailer with ease and these people can barely handle a hoopty without causing an accident. Have their vision, hearing, etc. tested yearly after, say 65, or 68 since it is the retirement age. But there is no reason to immediately so no, they can't drive at a certain age.Comment
