I've been to Boston and it was okay. Streets were more of the problem. The worst drivers to me are in Puerto Rico. Seattle being 2nd.

So Pyromania is apparently rampant in Pennsylvania. I do hear about plenty of suspicious fires on the news and there have been a number of cases of serial arson in the region over the past few years.

Oregon has the highest number of longterm homeless people. One stroll through downtown Portland would easily confirm that.

lol. DirecTV dropping weather channel? Why do people even want DirecTV? Seems like they've dropped so many things so often. They act like they control all of television and if they don't like something,nobody will. They're even threatening to take off certain things from PPV because a non TV deal was struck with that company and it didn't involve DirecTV.


As much as I hate some things that Canadian cable/satellite companies do,anytime I hear something regarding DirecTV, makes me happy I'm not in USA.

Gotta give props to the Dish people for sending out (likely) an automated tweet after a complaint bout DirecTV.

DirecTV used to be a big deal 10-15 years ago but it seems to me like Dish is a better buy in the long term. The problem I get the sense that DirecTV has better customer service.

If only both companies could merge.

What specifically about the Weather Channel will you be missing? Thought they lost much of their usefulness as 'The Weather Channel' when all I could catch was reality shows whenever I'd turn to it the last year or two it seems.

With the plethora of other connected devices for the weather now the desperation in TWC's pleas are comical. If they really want like $30m/year from DirecTV then I have little doubt they're gone for good or will have to cave significantly.

I always liked watching the Weather Channel during storms with the hope that the poor soul stuck reporting on the scene would get washed away by a flash flood or blown away by the wind.

On the topic of removed channels. Cox Cable recently dropped G4 TV and a couple other channels. Going through the guide the other day I noticed some holes there.

DirecTV is by far the best television service out there. I had to go to cable because of tight money, and it doesn't even compare. Dish isn't that impressive, either. Anytime I'd go to my buddies house, he had Dish and it just wasn't the same.

Full disclosure, I did tech support (3rd party) for DirecTV in 2005.

I don't see anyone better than DirecTV, but we'd play the 'new customer' game with our local providers every year or so if it weren't for Sunday Ticket.

I am a little disappointed Dish seems to be advancing their equipment quickly, always prominent at CES, etc. All the Hopper/Joey stuff is coming along nicely, but the fees related to them are kinda crazy as I understand them too. As a result if we were doing service roulette it'd probably be a rotation between DirecTV, Cox and Centurlink's Prism.

Depending on your moral stance, that isn't exactly the worst thing to be #1 in. I'm surprised we're not leading in some cancer category because the air here is supposed to be pretty poor. I guess having NJ next door makes us look better.
