Heh, just watched them all with my parents and sister over the holiday break.

My roommate pretty much forced me to watch them a couple years ago. He can probably recite every single line of all three blu-ray extended versions.

If you're into that genre, they're definitely very good movies. After watching the trilogy again, I think I am going to read the books.

I can only watch LotR about once or twice a year. Typically I'll set aside a weekend and watch the extended editions of the trilogy. By the time Return of the King (Lucas wasn't too original on his final title act huh?) finishes its 3rd or 4th conclusion I am worn the **** out.

The Return of the King does drag on a little at the end.

Yeah I have a ton of friends who are like that too, it's actually impressive that I haven't seen them yet.

I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan so I think this would be right up my alley.

That reminds me, I actually haven't seen the Harry Potter series either. I suck at movies.

I can't wait to dedicate an entire 20+ hours to watch all the extended versions of The Hobbit and LOTR at once. That should be fun.

I've never watched an entire Lord of the Rings, not because I don't like the series, but because I just can't stay awake.

Regarding LOTR, I plan to watch ALL the movies once The Hobbit trilogy is over. I don't know if it'll be joyous or painful but i'll do it....Anyways should I watch LOTR first or start with the Hobbit?

Watched the second and third LOTR on New Year's. I'm not into that genre really, but that's an awesome trilogy. Epic adventure. Great characters, so well done. Love it

I think it would be interesting to watch the Hobbit before LotR. When I watched The Fellowship after watching The Hobbit, they make several subtle references to The Hobbit that you would only really notice if you've seen/read The Hobbit.

A couple that I remember off the top of my head:
                          1) Frodo makes some sort of comment to Gandalf about always causing trouble or something like that, Gandalf says: "What, that business with the dragon? I merely nudged your uncle out the door!"

                          2) Bilbo telling a story about the trolls deciding how to cook them (scene from the first Hobbit movie) to the kids at his birthday party.

I have the LotR hardbound collected trilogy, but do not own The Hobbit. Coincidentally I have not read either. Do I start with The Hobbit since that is first in the story or LotR?

Never watched a LOTR or Harry Potter movie. Might give Harry Potter a chance at some point. LOTR is something I know I will not like so why even bother.

LOTR is great, but I've always preferred Harry Potter. There is just something about HP that gives it more replay value to me then LOTR
