I have a land line because when a storm comes, power goes out, cell phone towers go down, you can still use a land line to call people. So during hurricane Irene, that land line came in handy.

Cell phone towers don't really go down during hurricanes. It's usually the flooding that causes the cell service outage. For the most part cell companies did really good with Irene.

I had decent service during that hurricane. It was reaching 911 that was the issue. My neighborhood was a warzone from the flooding. Random fires and all.

I had one for a short period of time as it actually made my Cable Bill cheaper when it was packaged with Internet and TV. I gave out the number to family as an emergency number in the event that I ever go too long without responding to texts and/or phone calls. But despite my best efforts, I could never keep it plugged in for more than a few hours at a time. I was getting 10+ calls a day from debt collectors looking for the previous owner of the number and telemarketers. Even being signed up on a do not call list. I yanked it out, cancelled the phone service on my bill and laughed at the fact that my bill didn't go up.

I had a similar problem when I first got my cell phone, though not quite as frequent. One day I was walking down the street when my phone rang and it was a debt collection agency again. Guy says something to the effect of "I understand you have a debt" and me being the calm and polite person I am basically snarled into the phone "NO I DON'T, STOP CALLING ME" and angrily hung up. Never got another call from them again.

It's a joke. We've been thinking about getting one again but no one ever called so it just kind of sat there.

We have a landline and it's 90% telemarketers, I have fun w/ it now though. I answer the phone in a Chinese accent and say "Golden Dragon Café, may I take yo orda" ...once a guy was like yea can I get some General Tso and Egg Foo Young, he was pretty funny, because after each thing he said, I would say 15 minute, 15 minute LOL.

Technically, a word does not have form until it is used, Tebowing is for example a word. But wouldn't be found in a dictionary.

So if I said operationsportsswag, it's now a word, that doesn't mean it's recognized though.
