It's Miller Lite so it's going to taste bad regardless.

Re: Off Topic 2014
I'm with you, 8. This week has thoroughly whooped my ***.
I'm so exhausted I don't even wanna go to this show tomorrow night, even though it's probably one of the best lineups I've seen live. I'm gonna couch it hard on Sunday that's for damn sure.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Apparently the cold water challenge was created for a good cause, but surely there could've been a better way to go about this. **** this is going to suck.Comment

I wasn't sure if anyone missed it previously, so I'll say it again: I'm going to Las Vegas for a week, and you are not.

Having been there 15-20 times in my life, I cannot possibly imagine an entire week in that place. One weekend at a time is more than sufficient.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Random question: anyone here work (or ever worked) in plumbing, refrigeration or photography?
Just to clear this up, these are the 3 courses I'm looking into for school. Over the past few weeks I've finally come to the realization I need to do something and improve my life. Actually, I think I remember making a big post about it here.
Anyways, photography is what I'm leaning towards because it's what I'm truly interested in learning. Also the fact that maybe, just maybe, that could lead to a sports-related job which is basically the (realistic) dream at the moment. But the other two are really, really well-paying. I'm just unsure how capable I'd be at either which has been making me pause.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I've lived here since 1998. I win. Feel free to spend like Donald Trump. It's why we pay no state tax, lolLast edited by Segagendude; 04-11-2014, 04:52 PM.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
I already miss the bitter cold. Now that it's warming up my neighbors are outside loitering around all day. I felt like I was in Splinter Cell today on the dog walk trying to stay out of sight. It's Sam Fisher vs the "King of the Hill" crew out here.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Let me help you out here: photography is an art. Therefore going to school for it, while it may help and is nice on a résumé, is not necessary. I don't know how much you know, so taking courses can definitely help with the nuances of learning about not only taking professional photos and lighting and all that fun stuff, but also about your camera. Know what an F stop is? I don't, but I hear it all the time from my girl. Lol
The big thing is connecting with people and getting yourself out there. She hasn't worked for a studio in over a year now, but through Facebook and personal relationships, she's been able to book steady weddings and other photo opps (modeling, for example).
It's tough in this day & age to make a living off being just a photographer, so I'd suggest having a steady paycheck to depend on and doing the photography in your free time. Those weddings and shoots are hundreds of dollars, so for a day's worth of shooting, plus the hours of editing and whatnot, it's not a bad side gig, especially if you're passionate about it. My fiancé is a server so she already makes pretty decent money, but when she can book a wedding it's a cool couple hundo in the bank account. If not more as you get better, able to purchase high end equipment, can add a second shooter to help you cover all the angles, etc.
Photography is definitely a talent. You can tell whose an Instagram/Facebook phenom, and who knows the it's and out's of the art.
My one brother went to school for HVAC, but isn't using that education currently.
If you have any questions, PM me and I can run it by them and get back to you on any info they may have.
Good for you making a plan for yourself. Best of luck!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Off Topic 2014
I will say this about photography, unless you working for a company with steady pay, you can't live off of it until you become known. And it can take a while to become known. My friend has found this out this year. She made her a website a few months ago, passed out 100s of business cards. So far the only clients she has had is one friend wedding photos, and a handful of friends kids pictures.
First thing people going to do is say I never heard of you, who do you work for ? Oh your independent ? For how many years because I never heard of you. Also keep in mind, camera equipment is EXPENSIVE. I saw lenses by itself cost $2,000 or more. But if that is what you want to do, embrace the grind, but don't quit your day job anytime soon.
I myself like photography because where I live at now, there are 100s of mountains and plenty of wildlife around here to take pictures of. Eventually I want to get into astro photography. But damn the equipment for that is even higher then regular photography.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
Heading into the 2nd most stressful exam day of my life soon(most stressful was a day long exam(both exams were insanely hard too),where I forgot my calculator at home so I would've been screwed in the 2 hardest exams of year, but luckily my friend had a spare calculator(didn't work that well, but better than nothing)
All my work up to this point in the semester has been good, and it's not best thing to say, but I'm just hoping to pass because the final exam is where everything counts(not percentage wise so much in terms of grade, but in terms of passing the class it does). Multiple choice are bittersweet. It's great if you don't know the answer you know you at least have 25% chance of getting it right, but if you're wrong, you're wrong, no part marks or anything.
Last exam I had was like a week or two before Christmas, so I was in a great mood knowing as soon as I finished that final exam, I'd be done and holidays began. Can't wait to have that feeling again in a few weeks.Last edited by Majingir; 04-11-2014, 09:36 PM.Comment

I was in Vegas last Thursday through Saturday and it wasn't *nearly* enough time. And I'm not a hardcore partier, drinker, or gambler. I love it there.Comment
