I just had to turn down a job offer, which I really hate to do. I had applied to be an overnight stocker at Wal-Mart with the intent of maybe continuing into the school year (graduate school), but I just don't think I can handle working all night then having graduate school during the day. Plus, it looks like I will have some early(ish) classes that I would probably have to miss if I'd work over. I'm not sure when I'd sleep... I hate to turn it down because the job market isn't great right now.
I could have just taken it and quit in August, but I really hate to take a job and quit so soon. In addition, they wanted me to come in for orientation on Wednesday when I clearly said I wanted to wait until after final exams (May 10th) before starting, so that set me off a little. I can't really come in for orientation any time soon as I have final exams ongoing.
Time to figure out things again. I might be able to line up a pretty sweet tutoring job for Introduction to Microeconomics & Intro to Macro next semester (I have an interview for that on Wednesday), but I still need to find something for this summer. The tutoring job will be nice as you kind of pick your own hours and I know the stuff really well. Plus, the pay is good for what it is ($10/hr). Of course, there's no guarantee I'd get it as I don't really have any prior formal tutoring experience, but I did get an A+ in both courses, so as long as the interview goes well, I'd think I have a good shot.
The thing is that I really don't need the money so much. I got an in-state tuition waiver and a stipend large enough to cover graduation school tuition (and more), so I really don't want to work so much (or in a bad time... like overnight) that my studies suffer.
