Last night I went to see Dave Chappelle at Radio City Music Hall. Man you guys should have come. It was incredible. Donell Rawlings had me needing to see an EMT by the end of his stand up. Dave was good too but I contained myself way more. The ovation he got was unbelievable. By the end of his set it seemed like he didnt want to leave. He just kept making up jokes on the crowd. Then DJ Premier came on and...performed? Idk what Im missing about DJ's "performing" but do people really spend money just to see DJ's hit play on their music players? At one point in his "performance" he said, and I quote "A couple days ago Nas was here. *dramatic pause* Naw New York I dont think ya heard me, I said 'a couple days ago Nas was here' MAKE SOME NOOOOOOOISEEEEEE!" and Im sitting there like, we suppose to get hype because Nas was here a couple days ago? What? Then when his bum *** left the stage Busta Rhymes came out and did a mini greatest hits of his catalog which didnt include Touch It. I mean wtf Bust?

Then the real reason I went to the show. The woman who gives me life and doesnt realize her future husband [me]was in the stands that night, Janelle Monae went ham on the stage. She must have been going for an hour. She played what seemed like every song from Electric Lady. She faked out the crowd like 5 times by pretending to end, then she just started another song. It seemed like she didnt want to leave either. She did a MJ tribute loaded with two moonwalks and an MJ song, the name escapes me. Its when afro Michael is like Aw baby give me one more chance to show you that I love you.

Anyway by the end of the night we left and they were giving out free tshirts. Somehow we left there with 4 of them. I went full on Deebo mode.

So yeah, that was my night.

I don't understand what you mean by "edging" society, but I don't think the top is a true statement at all.

Of course there are some people like that, but I don't see it being a widespread thing.

It just seems like there's been an increase in the amount of coverage and pressure on the marketing of entertainment during the production and pre-release stages. You can see it in the threads around here before things are released as anticipation doesn't equal reality.
