I'm up at 7, on the train by 8 and at work by 9 for my internship. But that ends this week.

My actual job currently as a freelance writer means I'm unemployed (well self-employed technically, but that's only being nice). But I did just pick up the high school preview assignment for the community I write for which will net me $100. I'm a happy person.

My favorite part about my profession is that literally no one cares if you're "on time" or whatever. My last job was "be here for our daily standup at 10". My current job is "whatever, you're on Pacific time, so you'll be 'late' anyway" to the Cincy people.

There are frustrations (see yesterday's public Twitter frustration with merging code) but it's really nice that it's that laid back.

Weird co-worker situation (nothing sexy, just general immaturity):

We hired a junior accountant a little over 2 months ago. She's a great worker and does things correctly and timely. After 30 days she received a pay increase.

Two weeks ago she asked my boss for a raise to which he essentially said he couldn't and asked if she was putting in her two weeks as a result. So she did.

A week before this she had posted on Facebook that her goal with "Wraps" (a female, fat-tightening product) was to be a stay-at-home mom. Cool.

Last Friday she had an interview. Supposedly. Monday she was apparently crying when she got back from lunch. Tuesday she had to leave early to meet her husband at the bank.

Thanks to a Private Detective BigTimJimmyTommyTonyWony, I learned that she posted on Facebook asking if anybody knew of any good jobs available and that she had a bachelors degree in Accounting.

My boss and I can't figure her out other than she wanted more money and had no backup plan.

Had pre planning week at the elementary school for my student teaching, everything has been great. My cooperating teacher is just incredible, everyone is real nice, and it's not that far away from where I live. So i'm there all week setting up the classroom with her, etc. and get home today ready to relax all weekend.

Well just got a call from the School District finalizing my placement and it's a completely different school then where i've been. Tell them that and naturally the person who handles it is out until Monday so they'd call me back. If I end up having to go to a different school i'm going to be so mad. So i'll be worried about that all weekend

Boss is gone?

Last day at this ****ty summer job anyway and starting tomorrow I'm on two glorious weeks of vacation until I go back to college?

Yeah, let's see if we can't stretch this half hour they give me for lunch into an hour and a half.

I've decided that I'm going to start working and getting into shape for next year's MLB scouting tryouts. I'm sick of sitting by letting life happen to everyone else. It's the longest of long shots, but I either make a team or get the experience of seriously trying out.

I really don't think I've been more serious about any choice I've ever made.

Your next goal is to keep this level of conviction when you wake up tomorrow morning...then the next day etc etc.

Similar atmosphere here. I was apologizing for showing up a couple minutes late, or having to extend my lunch due to circumstances. But it really doesn't matter as long as work gets done.

I love that. It's nice to know if something happens, I won't get dinged for being late or leaving early. The work getting done benefits all of us, so it's more about wanting to build this business up then slaving away for the man.

It's unlike anything I've done before. It's just so cool to be a part of something that you believe in and want to help grow.

That makes two posts today bragging about this new gig. It's really that awesome.
