Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Burpees FTW!
For the next few months, my workouts will mainly consist of about 7 or 8 total exercises; burpees, kettlebell swings, kettlebell snatches, kettlebell clean and press, kettlebell squats and lunges, turkish get ups, and pull ups.
Here's to a healthy and fit 2014 everyone!Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
My goal is to work out.
That's it. Nothing specific. May start with some beginner's yoga program just to get my body feeling better. Then cardio to get back in shape. Then harder yoga and some weight training.
Yeah. That's the outline.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
One of my favorite go to workouts when i'm short on time is the 100 burpee challenge. You just simply complete 100 burpees as quickly as possible. If you really give it your all, you'll be completely obliterated in about 10 minutes worth of time.
If my arms begin to give out on me doing the full pushup burpee, I simply finish the burpees sans the pushup at the bottom. Anything that keeps the heartrate up.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
My goals are to lose 10 lbs. (195-198 now) and consistently workout 4-5 days a week. I just signed up at Gold's Gym (2 locations in my area) so plan on getting back to doing some heavy lifting, in addition to my running and mountain biking.Currently Playing:

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
It coincides with my New Years resolution. I'm going to be cutting out White Flour, stop drinking diet soda and start running on a consistent basis. I'm going to try that burpee challenge as well. Though I originally read that as Slurpee which got me much more excited then the thought of physical activity.

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I went from 250 lbs last year to 175 lbs. Woke up this morning and was at 176, so that'll be my starting weight for 2014. This year I'm looking to lose another 10-15 lbs and just tone up a tad more. Looking to also get my healthy eating back into check somewhat. Wife has been buying some junk food lately (mainly white fudge Flipz!) that I need to stay away from. Happy to report, I'm 9 months removed from drinking my last soda (Mt. Dew) and still drink 80-100 ounces of water daily along with a glass of tea or two at lunch OR dinner.
I hope to get back into running more in 2014, starting this month. I'll also be doing the 31 day burpee challenge. I imagine I'll go through another 60 days of Insanity and or T25 at some point as well to help me achieve me goals.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
My first post in the 2012 fitness thread:
I only posted three times in last year's thread. Currently I'm 25, still 5'4", but sitting at 140 lbs. I was 136 lbs for my last official PFA which was about six and a half weeks ago.Perhaps I should join in on this thread. We've had a few health/fitness threads that I've posted in.
Currently I'm at 137 after graduating college back in 2010 at 130 and no that weight gain wasn't all muscle because I've been neglecting work outs and such since Spring 2009. There are some things I remember reading that I can confirm (such as headaches and not feeling good) because my diet wasn't up to par along with a less active lifestyle.
Currently I go the gym on a 4-5 day schedule rather than a weekly schedule. It looks something like this:
SpoilerDay 1 - Upper Body - (Chest and Back)
Day 2 - Lower Body/Legs
Day 3 - Shoulders and Arms
Day 4 - Cardio/Stretch day or Lower Body/Legs
Day 5 - Cardio/Stretch day or Core
I've been sticking to this schedule for the past six weeks. Although I could probably do more cardio and stretching.
My goals for this year is to bench my weight (my current high is 100), squat close to 200 lbs if not more, add more mass, and stay beneath my max allowed weight of 160. Ideally I'd like to stay around 145.Comment

Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Don't think I can do burpee's right now as my knee is still a bit fubared. Man I'm so glad 2013 is over, probably the worst year I've ever had. Was just injury, after injury, after illness. Lost a lot of the muscle I had built up over the prior Two years, and got significantly weaker.
I'm finally starting to come around again and just getting healthy enough to start Light Exercise. My goals are just to continue to rehab, and regain the strength I had lost. I'm really going to re-evaluate how I exercise, and I will not care about a rep number but rather focus on working the muscle and feeling it contract. Making sure that the form I do on every exercise is perfect. Looking back and evaluating how I was working out before and really thinking about it, I would start off with good form but then when I got to heavier weights I would start chucking around weights, just moving them from point A to point B... (i.e Curving Back too much on Deadlifts, knee's going inward on Squats, just thrusting dumbbells up from the hip on Curls instead of being steady everywhere and not moving my shoulders) Probably why I had so many joint problems.
This year it's going to be all about Form, posture, focusing on negatives, keeping a healthy and balanced diet and hopefully getting back to being a functional healthy being. Going to stop lifting with Ego, and drop the weights until my form is perfect. If I can't bench 215 with great form, I'll drop it to 120 and just do more sets while feeling the muscle work, Instead of grabbing the 30 pound Dumbbells I'm going with 15's and just working slowly instead of throwing weights with bad form. Good luck to everyone here.Last edited by Feared; 01-01-2014, 08:32 PM.Minnesota Vikings
