If she wants to go she will say yes if you just ask her normally to go. Worst that can happen is she says no. If you do something elaborate she either says yes willingly. Says yes because she doesn't want to embarrass you. Or says no and it's embarrassing.
Look at Grandpa over here . All kidding aside I think you should just straight up ask her. I'm not a fan of these cutesy prom proposals just be straightforward and honest. Works with most girls.

Forget the fancy proposal and work on building some self-confidence. You don't need something elaborate to get a girl to go with you; you just need to be yourself and believe in yourself. Do that, and you and your date will have a great prom.

Bam. Right there. Very, very wise advice. Confidence is key (I'm still working on that myself, so I speak from experience. )

Just asking "Hey...You wanna go to prom with me?" Worked pretty well for me. But that was 12 years ago. Before this newfangled smart phone age. Don't know what you kids do now. (I just turned 30....Figure it's time to start using this vernacular)

It still works. I did it 5 years ago and it was a yes. Prom-posals are ridiculous and stupid, just believe in yourself, ask the girl with some confidence, and it will work (sans a couple drama queens who demand this kind of stupidity, but did you really want to go with someone like that anyways?)

The thing is....just do it. Throw yourself out there. If there is anything I've learned is that rejection really doesn't suck that bad. At first it does...but you get over it.

The thing I've hated about rejections in my life (not just girls, but anything) is nobody really has the nerve to simply say "No," either. They put you down without making you feel bad by making something else up along the way. "Oh, I have somewhere else to be that night" or whatever the hell their excuse is.

If you ever get rejected like this and you catch them lying, rub it in their faces and treat them like dirt. They deserve to feel bad about not making you feel bad by being honest.

I don't really know where this leads to good advice about asking a girl to prom, though...

If she doesn't want to go with you its not the end of the world. She doesn't want to hang? No sweat. No point in trying to make people want to be with you when you can probably find somebody that would enjoy spending time with you. The sooner you realize that the better.

Its all a numbers game, ask as many chicks as you can.......you will find one eventually. I'm also with some of the other posters, you gotta man up and get you some confidence in the woman department.

It means stop being intimidated by females. Just because they're biologically different and are insane doesn't mean they should be treated like gods.

And the worst thing that happens is they say no. As someone who has been in both situations getting rejected doesn't feel nearly as bad as knowing that you didn't even try.

Now get out there and ask someone.

Whatever you do, don't P*** out and ask a girl out over text message.

Rip the band aid off and just do it. Don't see why you would wait until prom though...
