But I mean really it's high school. What happens, positively or negatively, is almost certainly not going to matter in a couple years (unless you marry your high school sweetheart or commit a crime).

I didn't even ask my girlfriend to go to prom. If I did something silly/elaborate like that, she probably would have punched me in the throat.

In fact, I don't think I recall anyone in my high school (through all 4 years I was there) ever doing any of that stupid stuff. Male or female.

Popular culture tells me you've got to have mad skills. Nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills. It also helps if you've got a sweet bike, are really good at hooking up with chicks, or if you're the only one at school with a mustache.

If you've got none of those things you, a dick in a box is pretty effective from what I've seen.

I've literally never heard anyone use that term before, online or in real life. No one called it anything but asking a girl to prom here, and it sounds really stupid when you call it a "prom-posal". "Yo bro are you promposing to Brittney at lunch?"

There's nothing wrong with putting in a little effort to ask a girl in a creative way, but calling it a prom-posal makes it sound way more intricate than it actually is.
